Interesting... I didn't know if it had to be a different organization.

The WBA is unifying their own titles? How about you throw in the interim belt and make it an undisputed championship fight involving the WBA alone?

Unifying the WBA Super, interim, regular and gold, and then letting other fighters fight for the now "vacant" belts.

The WBA belt no longer matters. It is null and void and has lost any legitimacy it once possessed. It's just a greedy cash grab to milk hapless fighters of their purses.

I never consider WBA 'regular' title (if the 'super champion' is there in the respective weight class), a title. Why do you think Jason Sosa fought Loma and went after his WBO title ?

It's a champion title without real recognition. Take a look at Alberto Machado as example. That guy was WBA champion (who he earned after defeating the 'super champion' Corrales) and suddenly found his name worldwidely replaced by someone else just because the other guy become a 'super champion'. Look at WBO rankings, it listed Machado as WBA champion until May 2018. And the next month, it becomes Gervonta Davis. In other words, a demotion.

Answering the thread question, no it's not. It's a title defense, nothing more.
