    From WBAonline:

    "WBA Clarifies Mundine´s/Kessle´r situation
May 7, 2008 - The World Boxing Association (WBA) wants to clarify the situation of current WBA Super Middleweight champion Anthony Mundine and the official challenger Mikkel Kessler.
Mundine should defend his title against official challenger Kessler after defending the crown in an optional defense first, which is scheduled for next May 28th against Sam Soliman. In the meantime, Kessler’s camp has requested the WBA to consider the possibility of sanctioning a fight between Kessler and No. 4 contender Dimitri Sartison for the vacant title in the case Mundine refuses to face Kessler.
The procedure in cases where the champion does not honor his obligation against the official challenger is for the WBA to sanction a fight for the vacant title between the two highest available contenders.
However, in Mundine's case the WBA cannot possibly make any decision for now as facts have not unfold yet. Yet, the WBA is closely following this case and will make a decision according to the events produced in the following weeks."

I guess the WBA will end up, making a third belt for Kessler.

    Then we will have:

    Calzaghe (superchamp)
    Mundine (regular)
    Kessler (co-regular or irregular:rofl ).

These guys really know how to squeeeeeze the lemon.
Still some people talk about the boxers ruining boxing.

Kessler should still be the number 1 contender given his fight with calzaghe

So, we won't know if Kessler vs. Sartison is for a title until after Mundine's match with Solimon? hmmm...

It's as I suspected. Kessler's fight against Sartisan is nothing more than a regular fight between two highly ranked boxers at 168 by the WBA. Nothing more than that. This fight isn't for the belt, that's all you really need to know.

    Here is the scenario:

Kessler-Sartison is a regular fight where Kessler wins.

Mundine succesfully defends his belt against Soliman and then
    go down to 160lbs.

There, to show its seriousness, the WBA automatically declares Keesler new champ:roll:

Rumour has it, that if Mundine doesnt vacate or loses to Soliman - meaning Kessler - Sartison = ordinary bout. Palle will end up financially broke.
Palles current plan is to sell it PPV in Denmark, an option that wont be realistic if its not a belt fight.

If that were to happen perhaps kessler could, in this reversed fashion be untied from his slave-contract with Palle.

To be honest, I would have thought that the fighters would have had more pride than to fight for such a ridiculous paper championship. Everybody knows that Calzaghe is the WBA holder at 168 and will remain so for the forseeable future until the decision on his next fight is made.

The WBU, WBF & IBC hold more credibility than a WBA regular strap for me.

Palle is pushing it a bit far now. I wish he goes bankrupt in which case Kessler will be looking for a new promoter. I think Palle should sell Kessler to a promoter that should bring him a decent sum of money, and then retire. 50 years is enough.

Kessler once spoke about fighting in America, facing the best boxers he possibly can to push himself and generally really make a name for himself.

He's been very quiet lately. I would like to know his thoughts on his situation. Suddenly, he's had 40 fights, is almost 30 and appears to be chasing a few dead ends while not making too much money (apart from Calzaghe fight).

Truth is that Mundine has been promised a shot at Sturm's WBA MW title after letting go the SMW title. Everybody knows Mundine beats Sturm but is too scared to face Kessler for the SMW title.

Well although Palle's latest moves has been somewhat dubouis by the look of things - in all fairness it has to be said that Palle did manege to make Kessler champion - unified champion and got him a very well paid shot at becoming the first unified SMW of all time. That's fairly good in my book - and I'm sure in Kessler's too.

If Palle somehow maneges to make this fight a championship fight, then Kessler will be first in line for another shot at greatness - and a well paid one of those. (possibly Taylor or Pavlik) ... if he pulls that thorugh, then he will have done great.
