There's no way in hell Golovkin will relinquish that belt. It's his best bargaining chip and it's not like there's any big fights on the docket for him.
They have 30 days to reach an agreement or the fight goes to purse bids. It wouldn't surprise me to see a deal get done where GGG vs Geale goes ahead for July on HBO and then Golovkin defends against Fletcher in Monte Carlo where Fletcher had his most recent fight. A quick turnaround might not be such a bad thing for GGG with his fight in April being cancelled and not fighting since February. It probably wouldn't hurt to go ahead and get that Geale fight signed within the next 29 days. One way or another this sh*t has to get worked out. Jarrod Fletcher didn't make it out of the second round with Billy Joe Saunders. Does he really want to be difficult about this and then get in the ring with GGG after costing him a bigger fight on HBO?
since when does the WBA enforce mandatories? wasnt GGG the mandatory for Sturm for almost 2 years? that fight never happened. i would tell them to F off
Golovkin should fight Geale then face Fletcher 3 weeks later in a school gym somewhere like when he fought Simon after the main Klychko card he was supposed to be on was cancelled. A nice F U to the WBA to show what he thinks of their ratings and authority. If he ever unifies the first thing he should do is drop their worthless title they've gone out of their way to screw him his entire career.
How the hell did Fletcher get into the top 15 rating of all 4 orgs in the first place?:huh did he recently sign with Al Haymon or something.:think
And how bout instead, GGG fight Saunders. He's a future titlist at MW, so why not take a cherry before he moves up to 168.:think
Watch the video. He's gaunt, thirsty, hungry and shaky. Him being a small MW who could make 154 is bull****. http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/golovkinmedia-4.jpg He's actually quite muscular.
Ridiculous. This is what's wrong with boxing. One of its prestige divisions gets a fighter who looks like he could be blue chip caliber, and instead of being able to prove it against the best, he gets screwed around by: *promotional incompetence *a network cold war *opponents pricing themselves out (or flat out avoiding him) *lame requirements by the ABC org with his only bargaining chip. In any other sport, being good enough is good enough. Boxing should be the shining example of this because sports doesn't get any more pure than that; leave it to boxing, though, to become the *******ized, twisted version of that ideal. Where fans only get the best fights if the promoters want us to and if the powers that be think we're worthy of it after their pockets are stuffed enough. Then, if we're lucky enough to get it, we actually have to hope that crooked judging, refs, or fighters don't serve us some shenanigans and we end up with an honest outcome. Baseball has a fixed world series (that they know about) and it lives on for a hundred years in infamy as the "Black Sox" scandal. Boxing has a fixed title fight, and it's just called "Saturday". That's how conditioned we've become to this bull****. No wonder so many of the fans coming up are either honest fans of the sport that are gluttons for punishment, trolls, or bloodthirsty savages. I suppose I'm column one since boxing loves to keep kicking me in the balls but I still tune in like that little dude from Oliver Twist saying "Please sir, I'd like some more". Man, **** it.
Pretty sure he's still not allowed to do business according to his tradition. with the passing of his father, he'll likely not even read a fight contract or take a phone call until the end of May.:think
