I don't know why I have a hunch that Lara will make it interesting, all logic points to this being a bad match-up for him besides the reach advantage.

The thing with Lara is he is also getting old and worn.

I would still take GGG by late KO.

This would have been interesting 6 years ago but now they're both old and washed up. I'll still favor GGG in this one, Lara doesn't have the same fast feet he once he had.

Brook basically happened because Eubank backed out and Brook was on the promoter's emergency list. Not sure how easy Lara is to negotiate with or if he was ready at short notice.

Lara has been standing and trading more the last couple of fights. Jared Herd comes to mind. Don't think Lara can stand in there like that against 3G. Interesting fight. I expect the PPV to be $350.00 US.

A win by Lara completely changes how his career will be remembered.

Nobody has convincingly beaten Lara in his career.

He has three losses, all controversial. The Paul Williams fight was universally recognized as awful. Williams barely made it the distance. The Canelo loss was, again, about as controversial as it gets. And the Jarrett Hurd fight, even with the knockdown at the end, a large percentage of fans thought Lara had banked enough rounds to win.

If he becomes the lineal Middleweight Champion and lifts the title from an all-time great, a Canelo rematch becomes a "real" possibility.

I'll be rooting for Lara. He deserves a few "good" breaks. He's had his share of bad ones.

Years after no one really wants to see it. Any potential spoiling I previously thought Lara could do died years (and years) ago

Someone told me that the IBU has mandated Fury vs AJ.

Case in point GGG is bigger than his belt. They can't give him any mandates.

Decade to late. Both guys are at an age where most boxers have already retired. I doubt this fight gets made cause there is very little interest in it and that means very little money. Unless some dumb promotion like BLK is willing to lose money to promote it.
