Inoue getting that reality check from that early KD against Nery might prompt him to fight even more carefully when he's in there with MJ. I honestly think MJ is the biggest threat at 122 for Inoue.
It could well do. Along with Inoue, MJ is the only other leprechaun division fighter where the sound of his shots makes me take note
This is 10 times better than Goodman. Really hope it gets made, MJ is Inoue's biggest challenge at the weight and the only really top level super-bantam he hasn't beaten up yet. I think MJ can give a good account of himself here, he seriously underperformed against Tapales but I don't expect him to do so here. Should be fireworks while it lasts.
I believe the Sheik wants to buy boxing. Buy the promotion companies and set up boxing like the UFC. could be interesting. I believe the Sheik is in it for the entertainment moreso than making a profit. Which is a good thing. He does need the money. Keep in mind, these are a group of people that once paid 15 mil to get the license plate #1 on it. A status symbol. Money isn't an issue.
Fulton, Tapales, Nery and now Akhmadaliev is an insanely good run for a start in a new division. Monster wants to leave no doubts as to who the king is here. Just one of the reasons why he's one of the best around
Probably won't happen: In response to the notice, Mr. Ohashi, president of the Ohashi Gym where Naoya belongs, said in an interview, "To some extent, the direction (of the next round) has been decided. It would be tough to start over from here. It is difficult for me to continue to fight in all four organizations' nominated fights in the future. We may have to consider giving up the belts. Naoya's camp initially negotiated with Sam Goodman (AUS), ranked No. 1 by the IBF and WBO, as their first choice for a bout in Tokyo in September. However, the negotiations were difficult because Goodman's camp prioritized his home event in July and wanted to fight in December. As a result, the fight with WBO No. 2 TJ Doheny (Ireland), who was one of the leading candidates, is now favored. Ohashi also said after his match with Luis Neri (Mexico) at the Tokyo Dome on June 6 last month that he was "not concerned" about holding four belts, and suggested that he might vacate them. https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/86fe8bf4ae72bd2ff0ff186659218e77278efcd9
Old Bob said no way jose to a proposed mandatory fight against MJ. Looks like they will be looking to defend against Doheny instead.
This content is protected Not one of my better aged posts Still though, I'm sure Inoue will take on Akhmadaliev before he heads up. Even if he doesn't, three of the top five in a new weight class is a damn good run. Puts him in rare company, that's for sure.
Bob is being full of sh/t if he really thinks MJ is a nobody. Hopefully Inoue has a say in this and decides to fight his mandatory without having to vacate. MJ is the best remaining opponent at 122 for Inoue to face and it would be a huge shame for him to not fight him before moving up.
Like I said, MJ is a big puncher and OG Bob sees him as a bit too risky coming off the back of the Nery fight. I'm not saying MJ would beat Inoue but it's a risky fight for Inoue's first fight back after suffering a KD and you're playing Russian roulette when you keep fighting punchers and the cream of your weight class or elite fighters back to back, especially when you've already moved up many weight classes. It's smart management and acceptable given Inoue's track record of fighting the best, especially now he's campaigning in his 4th weight class and hasn't even been at 122 for a year yet. That fight can happen later in the year.
