So, a fight between an Olympic gold medalist who's been the second best heavy weight this last decade and the current number one is a total mismatch? Oh my. Also, Povetkin is lighter, more experienced, have more KOs than AJ, throws better combinations and has better and way more proven stamina. Depending on how you read the numbers you'll get a different answer.
Povetkin would be another solid scalp for a rapidly improving resume but sits on a similar level to Wilder beating Ortiz - both impressive scalps of ageing but top tier talents who people feel were unlucky in their physical primes and have dubious testing records. Joshua fans will have it down as 'another' ATG win and his detractors will say it means very little. Both will be massively wrong.
1) Anthony Joshua's 95% KO rate > Mike Tyson 76% KO Rate. 2) Anthony Joshua's 6 foot 6 height > Mike Tyson 5 foot 10 height. 3) Anthony Joshua's 240+ pound body weight > Mike Tyson 220 pound body weight. 4) Anthony Joshua's 82 inch reach > Mike Tyson 71 inch reach. It's easy to throw around numbers and pretend it's the truth. I assume you think Povetkin is a garbage fighter then as you think it's such a mismatch and such a worthless fight for Joshua to take. Where do you rank Povetkin, top 10, top 20 or perhaps somewhere in the top 30. Most have Povetkin as a top 5 heavyweight, whether Joshua struggles or crushes him doesn't take away from the fact he would be facing a top ranked heavyweight. Who would you prefer Joshua face, Duhaupas, Szplika, Washington, maybe a shot Arreola or Stiverne?
You compaired AJ v Pov to this ?....."What would you say, if a 30 year old adult failed to brutally defeat a 5 year old child lopsidedly inside a boxing ring in a boxing match whilst holding all the advantages?" FFS
You think Joshua povetkin is a mismatch in Joshuas favour, so you’re either a Joshua fanboy, a Joshua hater trying to set unrealistic expectations so you can tear him down or you’re just trolling. Whichever of the 3 you are, it’s pathetic for a grown man to be acting that way. Bye.
the ****ed up thing is you're technically right even though nobody wants to see that. Kind of like when Fres Oquendo was the perennial mandatory for years and kept watching on the sidelines as the WBA strung him along, kicking the can further down the road. Like, "yes on principle this is unjust...but on the other hand, does any part of me really want to see Oquendo in a title fight? Does any part of me want to see him through some bizarre fluke (say a technical decision, or an opponent self-injuring and losing a TKO) becoming a ..er, champion?"
