Good let’s make this fight now. Unless Aj fights Wilder next their is no reason it should not be Povetkin now.

    No.

You are being a coward and saying "this will be a demolition" then proceed to say "if he loses he sucks". That is playing both sides and being a *****. You win both ways.

People thought Povetkin was ordinary against Hammer, I thought he dominated stylishly from the 1st till the 12th

That was only 4 months ago so he was PED free and he looked as good as he did pre2016

Parker was never going to beat Joshua as to beat him you need to knock him out, Povetkin has that power and he's also really smart about his punch selection too (not as good as Usyk but still very good)

Povetkin has done enough to earn this shot. Would be a good mandatory defence and an interesting fight. Hybrid can wait - fight buffet again.

Povetkin will likely be 39 years old if it happens. We'll see how it plays out. IMO Povetkin has little to lose, but I can guarantee he'll come to fight, unlike Parker.

Joshua will need to win impressively to boot his legacy. A close points win or later round TKO won't add much to his resume due to Povetkin's age. A loss, and he's got a long way to go to get back to where he was.

Prime Povetkin would likely defeat Joshua, but he's old and slower now and so he'll likely get stopped for the first time ever.

Still a good name for Joshua's resume, better than Luis Ortiz.

It's a matchup of two Olympic Gold Medal winners (although Joshua should have lost to Savon and to Camarelle).

He's off the Mexican meat so he'll be fine.

Povetkin is getting a bit long in the tooth but this could still make for a good scrap. I expect Joshua to keep things long and box with a safety first approach in order to avoid getting chinned by one of those meaty left hooks. Unlike Parker who just showed up for a paycheck, Sasha will look to bomb him out at every opportunity.

Intriguing fight for a lot of reasons:
    1. Pov just brutalized Britain fan favorite Price (they were booing him in Principality afterward).
    2. The nationalistic aspect: Brits aren't exactly fond of Russians to begin with, so I hear.
    3. The race aspect: AJ's superior black race comments combined with Pov starching literally every black fighter he's faced up until now. It would be kind of poetic irony if this chiseled African warrior lost his belts to a somewhat pudgy, undersized, aging Slavic ginger (albeit still one hell of a boxer).
    4. Pov's redemption: He knows he choked hard against Wlad, and wants redemption although it's coming much later than he'd hoped. I think Pov is just very hungry right now. He knows this is his last shot at a belt, unlike Parker who seemed kind of whatever/indifferent in the post-fight interviews.
    5. Pressure on AJ to impress: As already mentioned, AJ knows he has to actually look good in beating Pov after that stinker last week. Plus factor in 1-3, I think he pushes hard for a highlight reel KO early, which plays into Pov's hands somewhat. AJ could win this fight on the back foot, using his reach and size, but my gut says he'll go to war instead.

Amplify all of the above if the fight is held in Russia (though I doubt Hearn will let that happen).

I just asked Fat Dan during his weekly chat if he thought we would get this fight next since Povetkin is now mandatory. His response was “He may be the mandatory but the fight is nowhere due”

I hope he’s wrong, my dream scenario would be Povetkin laying out Joshua like he did Price!!
