There isn't a single opponent GGG faced that was considered high risk, low reward. Anyone that even suggests that is either a straight up idiot or a GGG fan(far higher levels of idiocy). Just check the odds leading up to ALL his fights, we're talking 1/200 favorite here. Marketing and management have their limits, eventually he will have to take risks and fight big name opponents to score high PPV sales. Those risks involve moving up in weight and facing big names rather than sitting in one place and calling out smaller big names.

Yes he is properly managed and marketed, and the proof is you.

Ward, Canelo. Maybe Froch, Sturm, Martinez?

That fight never happened because there wasn't enough money for the both of them. That's the truth.

If Ward beats Kovalev, watch interest in this fight take off. Ward is a tough challenge for GGG mainly due to his great skills being coupled to a large size advantage. I admit that it could be a fight Golovkin could lose. But if the money is good enough, they will both take it. If Ward were 160, he'd be the underdog.

 

ehhh...while i dont dismiss what youve said.....i would tend to think that if ward were to beat kovalev....ggg would be even less inclined to fight him......the money that would be there for that fight would not be a hell of alot more than there already was.....yes it would be more....but not something crazy....

the same could be said about the "level of interest"...its not going to be much more than it already was....look at this way....look at ward/kovalev....lampley described it as "best fight to be made in boxing" during canelo/smith broadcast....yet they expect maybe 300k buys.....the level of interest in ward/ggg after this fight(assuming ward wins) isnt going to take this to crazy levels....the same people that will be interested are the ones that would have been interested in ggg/ward a year ago

and of course...theres always ggg waiting for canelo...and if that happens it wont be till later in 2017.....

i just think this whole "lets let fight build/marinate" is a bunch of garbage....like theres suddenly going to be some huge spike in interest thats going to net guys another 5-10 million dollars...its not gonna happen...neither of these guys is floyd or pac

Against the right opponents, which both his management and marketing team carefully looking into, anyone would look good too. It's only the few knowledgeable boxing fans(unfortunately, the minority) that see right through the malarkey.

EVERY single fighter out there that aimed for super stardom took risks to get there. Whether they had to move up or down in weight, they took risks to get there.
