Ward was in talks to travel over as well last year when the WBA ordered the rematch. I suppose Froch ducked Ward like he did back in 2011 yeah?

He was also in serious talks with Chavez Jr for ages about a retirement fight in Vegas. As well as an IBF mandatory fight against DeGale.
Team GGG half knew Froch was going to retire. Thats why they perused him. Then they could claim they were ducked , playing the nobody wants to fight Gennady baloney card even harder

 

GGG shoulda been making the terms at 168 to face Ward , not Chavez who could hardly beat Brian Vera.

Froch didn't fancy a Ward rematch or facing Golovkin at that point in his career. He thought he'd earned a big Vegas send off with another couple of million in the bank for beating up Jr. When that didn't happen and it looked like he was going to have to get himself up those difficult fights or a bruising build up and fight against the immensely annoying Degale he decided he just couldn't be bothered and quit.

Golovkin wanted to fight an ageing Froch because he'd shown vulnerability against Groves, plenty of technical deficiencies throughout his career and was a popular draw in the UK. It was opportunistic and Froch refused to play ball to inflate Golovkins resume and bank account. He was pretty much the opposite of Ward in every regard.

 

Because Ward is much better than Froch - as evidenced in the fight between the two - and brought a fraction of the money to the table Carl would have. Come on guys, this isn't rocket science. Golovkin was after a big payday. It's a simple as that.
