WBA Super Middleweight Champion, Anthony Mundine, 31-3 (23 KOs)

    vs.

IBF Super Middleweight Champion, Lucien Bute, 22-0 (18 KOs)

    Who wins?

There's been a little bit of talk on the forum about this possible match-up recently, with many saying that Mundine should be favourite, but also many claiming that "no way Mundine beats Bute"

    So let's decide... :deal

Dont really understand why Bute should be the underdog against Mundine!
Mundine went 12 rounds with Nievas in one of his last fights.
German based supermiddle weight rookie Sartison took the same fight to school stopping him in round 8 of their encounter.
Mundine didnt look convincing against Hamder and had to go the full 12 rounds with the Australian based Arab.
Rusty Mads Larsen totally dominated Hamdan in their encounter a few months ago winning every second of every round.
Besides how many fighters got knocked out by feather fisted Sven Ottke?
    Well,...............Mundine.

    Should vote for Bute then...:deal

Mundine didn't look "un" convincing against Hamden either. And having Sartison stop someone faster than Mundine means nothing, especially when you consider that the level of opponent was nothing special (and Mundine still won every round; going the distance isn't neccessarily a "bad" thing).

Mundine's a much better fighter these days, to when MOST people have seen him fight. After his eye infection and bicep injury, his level of opponents have unfortunately dropped off and we haven't been able to gauge as much. But now, after Hamdan, there's NO excuse.

I still say he has too much speed, timing and accuracy for Bute. And his arsenal (which still can grow), is definately getting better... He's also MUCH better defensively, so he would be getting hit much less, also. IMO, of course.

What? Are all the Aussies alseep or something?

I can see this turning about quite bad for Mundine, so maybe I should have added an "And why?" part at the end of my first thread.

Cause outside of Odo (which was more just a rant at Mundine), none of the voters who voted for Bute have yet to say WHY they think Bute would win.

And you know what the worst part is, as soon as I clicked on the link... I saw MY name as the top reply. :patsch

    My bad.

I suppose just after Bute's fight last night, and Mundine's mid-week, and cause I LIKE this fight personally... I wanted to see people's reaction now.

That polls results were (still, this board can get more than 98 votes):
    51 Bute
    43 Mundine
    4 Draw

That's interesting. And CLOSE too. Damn, Makes me want this fight even more!

EDIT: And YOU voted a DRAW! What a cop out! ;)

Mundine isn't really the WBA champ Calzaghe is ...

Bute handles him for 12 straight rounds - UD

Well after both having a fight this weekend, SO FAR it seems as if Bute impressed more; or perhaps, had MORE people watch HIS fight.

Cause right now, this POLL is heavilly favouring Bute; unlike that recent poll.

So maybe this poll (after their fights), wasn't such a bad idea after all. ;)

Lucian Bute by a mile. Kessler is the (only) one who can beat him, which i do believe he would.

It's very obvious that Mundine is out of Bute's class. Mundine by total outclassing UD, Bute's face busted up.

Mundine has gotten a lot better in the last 2 years but lets not forget he was never that brilliant the hype started when he beat Green who again isnt brilliant.
i think the way he beat soliman the second time was quite good but still soliman proved on the contender he isnt particularly good now.

bute doesnt prove anything amazing to me but looks good enough and with good enough power as well i see him stopping mundine in the 12th of a fight that had he not stopped mundine it would have been a draw.

Make the fight on neutral grounds such as Las Vegas, and Bute most likely wins a competitive unanimous decision, being the more technically sound fighter, although Mundine brings good boxing skills to the ring.

    I'd say Mundine by UD.
