Ponce De Leon would be a horrible piece of matchmaking. His stock is very low after getting beaten up by Lopez, yet he remains extremely dangerous with his crude punching. He is pretty much a better version of Kiko Martinez...go figure.
yeh caballerro will be mandated to fight dunne in the next year. I dont wanna take anythign away from Dunnes victory over a genuine world class opponent in a classic fight but hes not a world champion, hes not even the proper belt holder.
that fight was worthy of a world title . the only champ at 122 in my eyes is vazquez , i belive dunne is in the same boat as caballero , juanma and the japanese fella .all paper titlests is dosent make a differnce .
Junama's too dangerous - looks like the real deal. Cabellero, R.Marquez, Gonzalez, and the Thai # contender, all tough fights. The talk is of him going after Vasquez, who he knows from his days sparring in the Wild Card. Would be interesting to see him avenge his loss to Martinez, but it looks like he's after bigger names. Munroe has missed his chance and wouldn't bring much to the table. The McCullough fight would a safe option for a first voluntary, and would generate lots of column inches. Reckon he'd do a SRR on it the time he fought Homicide Hank, and take it easy. Also he has a win over Molitor from his amateur days so that's another viable opponent. It's a deep division but forget the alphabet soup, Ring Magazine has Vasquez as the Champ so he's the man to go after. The Marquez trilogy may have taken enough out of him for it to be inspired matchmaking.
Ring magazine have Dunne at no.7 now. These are the fighters above him: 6. Steve Molitor. 5. Daniel Ponce De Leon. 4. Poonsawat Kratingaenggym. 3. Juan Manuel Lopez. 2. Celestino Caballero. 1. Rafa Marquez. C. Israel Vazquez. Pick an easy fight there. Very tough division.
Respect for Dunne for a great fight. The bottom line is though if he fights any of the true World Class contenders he will get Ko'd, simply. He shone and dug out a great victory in his backyard, everybody was behind him in a superb atmosphere. Take him out of those surroundings and he will be brutally exposed. He will lose against a Top, World Class fighter and then he will try and chase Munroe for the EBU strap. That is the only way Dunne Vs Munroe will happen.
I agree, and I'd say Steve Molitor and Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, who are two fighters ranked above Dunne in those Ring ratings and both World Class fighters are two more men Dunne could beat. Both would be 50/50 fights imo, but that would be another 2 World Class fighters he could potentially beat in what is imo the toughest division in boxing. Fights with Ponce De Leon, Juan Manuel Lopez, Vasquez, Marquez and Caballero wouldn't go well though. Everyone else Dunne has a chance with, although I reckon Jhonny Gonzalez would beat Dunne easily enough if not for the fact that Gonzalez is probably as vulnerable as Dunne himself almost.
Dunne is world class but Dunne still shouldn't be rushed into mega fights. Munroe is a good fight. Domestically people would watch it, Munroe beat Dunne's victor, Munroe is a legit champ etc etc
