Oh that's great, I can't wait to hear Teddy Atlas shoot his mouth about Wlad for the duration of the fight. I'm surprised Showtime didn't decide to pick it up.

That was Don Turner. Said it for years.

Atlas was a bit more down-to-earth about Grant, understandibly.

So that means Valueless is forced to fight Wladimir in his next fight, or he will get stripped of the title, right?

Nope. Valuev will have to fight...shudder...Ruiz.

Ruiz is the mandatory, Wlad is currently unranked by the WBA due to holding another organisation's belt and will not gain a ranking either by beating Chagaev because he'll STILL be holding another organisation's belt.

Screwy situation but that's how the boxing orgs do it. Refuse to give the other champions a ranking.

    Holyfield was robbed against Valuev.

Valuev refuses to fight Wlad on 20the of june. How can the WBA call him Champion? Laughable.

They are a corrupt organization that will do what Don King and his $$$$ says to do. Simple as that.

And really, when you think about it, I don't know how it's even allowed.
Can you imagine other sports having these problems, and WORST OF ALL, organizations NOT ranking fighters just because they hold another organizations belt! That's ridiculous!

I think what will eventually happen (if it hasn't already), is that the FANS will recognize something like the RING Magazine belt holder as the TRUE CHAMP, and everything else is secondary.

And then once that happens on a consistent basis, who knows, maybe we will see fighters giving up all of their belts to fight for the true championship, thus putting the ABCs out of business. (well I can dream can't I?).

I'm actually very surprised the WBA took this position - I was convinced they'd let Chagaev hold onto his title, hoping that Wlad would become Super Interim Champion so they could get sanctioning fees from him and Valuev.
The WBA title is completely meaningless at this point anyway.

Honestly HBO would feel dumb if Wladimir lost to Chagaev, or if Wladimir won in entertaining fashion. However if it is a rather dull tactical affair, then HBO will feel vindicated. A Chagaev win would really throw a wrench into HBO's gears though.

Chagaev is not only the true WBA Champion.... as he already beat Valuev.... but he is also the fighter that Wlad needs to beat to become Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion.

Their must be a reason why the WBA is located in Panama...:D

I would say this is the end of the WBA title as a legit ABC title. At least in the HW-division. Right now the WBO-belt has more recognition.

It is clear Don King is trying everything he can to hold onto that WBA belt. They should force the winner of Klitschko-Chagaev to fight Valuev or strip Valuev. We all know that will never happen.

Yes, but over the last 2 years and two months what has Chagaev done to prove he's still the champ and the number 3 Heavyweight in the world? He's fought medicore competition and looked rusty in those matches, backed out of 3 big fights (Iggy, Valuev twice), and has been anything but a good heavyweight.

Chagaev did not back out of his recent fight with Valuev.
