World Boxing Association Ranking – World Boxing Association (wbaboxing.com)

WBA. I don't know if they deliberately try to be hilarious with their rankings but they certainly succeed.

Pero at #5 - beaten noone decent ever

Perez at '6 - I genuinely thought he'd retired years ago

Chaney at #7 - i only heard of him yesterday as he's facing Bakole. Never beaten anyone decent (sorry Sugar Trevor Bryan)

Hunter at #8 - wtf ? His last proper win against someone inside top 200 was years ago

    We Be Atrocious. Just LOL.

How much money are they being paid to rank some of these clowns so high?

Agree w/ OP. Among all these boxing orgs the top 10 rankings should strongly (positively) correlate. That is you might have a few different names in your top 10 and the rankings might differ some, but in general a high degree of consistency.

What the WBA has is ridiculous. We Be Awful (Absurd).

Sometimes fighters get WBA ratings because they win WBA regional belts.

But the Mike Perez ranking is really a head-scratcher.

He hasn't won any WBA heavyweight belts recently.

Perez hasn't even fought at heavyweight since 2015.

Any fights Perez has had over the last nine years have been listed at cruiserweight. And not "barely" at cruiserweight. Perez weighed 195 in a fight last year, well under the limit.

Maybe Joshua is planning to tuneup with Perez, so they threw Mike a ranking. Seems like someone must be. Otherwise, I have no idea.

    Truly bizarre.

WBA do indeed have the keys to the clown-car and have done for years; I don't think it's really that close.

I’m pretty sure Fres oquendo hadn’t fought in two years and was still the wba number 1 contender. That organisation is a joke!

    Yep.

I have no reason to believe WBA chief Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. has any kind of special relationships.... but it always makes sense in these situations to "follow the money".... and to determine whether there's a common pattern among managers/promoters and the various Alphabet Soup prexies....

Why am I so cynical? Simple: Boxing history. With the shining example of former WBC chief Jose Sulaiman being so obviously in Don King's pocket it got ridiculous. And now his kid is running WBC....
