That weigh in could have been after a training session etc.

If anything it just proves Canelo is the bigger man and would be comfortable at 160.

Everyone wants GGG to fight better comp, but just who are these top-flight guys that were 'on the table'? Ward? Best bet now is to hope that GGG gets the MW unification behind him sooner rather than later then there's probably a decent chance of him testing the waters at 168. Personally I would have prefered he already moved up but it is what it is. Not quite sure why the level of hype he gets is relevant - does it bother you in some way?

164 does seem quite light for 30 days though - I don't think GGG walks that big between fights and seems to get down quite early (165 vs Lemieux on the 30 day weigh-in) - I'm wondering if it's possible Golovkin goes through a partial dehydration cycle for the 30 day weigh-ins, whether to acclimatise his body or perhaps gain a psychological edge over opponents (ok - maybe reaching with that one).:huh

Catch weights should simply be banned by all the governing bodies...they are just a big con/cheat. Trying to steal an advantage over their opponent because they feel the need. If a title is contested at 160 (or whatever) the 160 is the limit no questions and if someone wishes to come in under that limit that's up to them but not be allowed to force their opponent to do so.

one didn't need to hear about a 30 day weigh in to know that they are afraid of fighting canelo at 155

you knew because they weren't jumping at the chance...which they should be if they felt confident

spare me all the **** bout the belt and it being 160...its been defended 3x in a row at under 160...it already is what it is......ggg should be trying to make that fight but they obviously have reservations

This is good news. I want to see GGG come in at 157 for the Wade fight. Then call out Canelo at 155

ya GK...he wont though.....they are afraid of that fight at 155....that and they think they are bigger than they are( don't mean in size...but in stature in the sport)

Flat out made excuses regarding guys like Ward,Lara,Degale and side stepped Cotto and Canelo.

All this stuff about the Title is just an excuse, Golovkin has had no problem trying to fight retiree's outside his division but when challenged by top active guys he's backtracked.

Personally I don't have a problem with his hype per say, anything that bring more attention to the sport is good.

My thing is people bash guys like Canelo or Crawford or Kovalev or Ward guys who have fought top fights and have gone out of there way to take on better and tough opponents.

Meanwhile Golovkin gets pass after pass, and at this point there is no reason he should he has yet to show the heart or willingness to go after fights like his contemporaries.

Kelly Pavlik went straight up 10 pound from 160 to 170 to make a huge fight with Hopkins.

History is filled with guys making concessions to make the fights they want.

GGG weights in at 159 every fight. He just has to drop 3 measly pound to make the fight and the belt is his.

His refusal makes it blatantly obvious that he's scared of giving Canelo any bit of an advantage.

This fear on top of wanting no part of Lara is making it seem like he's not as good as he's made out to be.
