Has the WBC gone amateurs I have heard that it's has since the olympics went pro is there any truth to this?
they've been working on it for a while ... http://wbcboxing.com/wbceng/news/3864-amateur-committee as it says here, it's to counter balance the intention of aiba with (semi) pros (from the wsb). they have fights all over the world. i think every few months they have one in the los angeles area. they had one not too long ago. boxing doesn't have a farm system into the pros, so without amateurs there's a big disconnect. i think they realize that if we don't have amateurs then eventually we won't have quality athletes turning pro.
