What are your thoughts on this? Imo I think it's a good idea and it could help bolster and reinvigorate hype and interest in the sport. Whether a fighter loses or not, the rise to fame for boxers participating can help them build a name for themselves.
I dunno about that. Some of those Emperor Penguins are pretty tough. I have always said the WBC should have a Pinweight Division.
It is just crazy to me we still classify the white only champions from America and the British Empire as "world" champions. 128 fighters from every corner of the globe being hosted in Saudi ... bros ... we global now. World champion is no longer just some propaganda verbiage brought to you by the empire whose sun never sets. These kids are real world champions, they come up in a real global boxing scene. John L does not belong with names like Usyk. When is Saudi get into boxing? The 70s at best? It's an entirely different era that has more differences now with 1888 than 1888 has with 1722.
Great idea! Less than 15 pro bouts also means this is a way for lesser known fighters, prospects or young contenders to get more recognition. But what is the plan for TV on this? If theres about 128 fighters, how many fights exactly will be televised?
The way Boxing is going today, DAZN will probably dominate the television and make all of these DAZN subscriptions only with an additional Pay Per View amount on top of that. I hope I am wrong about that. I have the money to do all that however I have no DAZN subscription with no plans to purchase one. I love Boxing but I can use the $30.00 a month better elsewhere, especially since the fights I really want to see are still Pay Per View anyway.
Until the Yanks stop calling the World Series the World Series, John L remains a world champ old chap
