Why would the WBC name Oliver Mcall as a second mandatory when they already had one on deck with a champion emeritus at his heels. And if they already had two guys on deck and added a third, why is there talk of Virchis getting a shot at the interim championship?

Do we really need a WBC linear, emeritus, and interum champion?

I say enough is enough. Boxing fans, let us boycott an fight that has anything to do with the WBC until this bull**** is straightened out.

What cocks - linear, emeritus, interim, 1st and 2nd mandatory. You can't make this **** up.

Instead of creating trinkets the boxing fraternity has to expose this sort of ****.

yes it is an unbelieveably hilarious situation. that's why i go on potential. and who i feel is "the man" in each division. that takes all the pain outta it for me :D

so basically when i watch wladimir i consider him the best, and the soon to unify champs to be his no1. mandatory.

    light heavy is chad dawson

super middle is kessler/calzaghe (hard for me to decide)

    middle pavlik

jr middle dunno really haven't been paying attention to the divison lately

    welter floyd

    jr welter hatton

lightweight and downwards im hazy on all the fighters but i consider pacman the beast in his divison etc.

this makes my life WAY easier when sitting down to watch fights and also to explain to new or potential fans to the sport. if a new commer asks me why i'd consider pacman the king even tho he's not a champ (i think, cant remember atm) is because of his actions. he simply blows everyone away and it's a matter of time before an actual titleholder (that includes the aging marquez) gets in the ring with pacman and loses and the real man gets something to hold up his pants.

i think that's the best way to look at it. unless the abc belts disolve tomorrow, no one will ever be happy or a unified champ for long.

e.g. look at wladmir and the pickle he's in. seriously, he ko'ed brock and bryd in great fashion leaving no doubt he is better than them.... yet the ibf is going to make brock and bryd fight an eliminator to be the no1. mandatory to wladimir's belt? WTF? seriously, i wouldn't be surprised if wladimir simply vacates his belt then!

Agree with most of this but Pavlik has to beat Taylor to be the man at 160 (which i personally think he will)

One more champion, and they've have enough for a singing group.

The WBC Champions, on tour, now! LOL

I think they ought to weed out one, and have McCall fight Peter if Maskaev gets screwed out of it.

Do we need WBA Super Champ, regular champ and interim champ all at the same time? Well, it's a tough one to decide which sanctioning body is the biggest joke at the moment.

Why won't Maskaev just sign the damn fight. He ain't getting any younger, and this is his last shot at a payday.

I know he wanted Vitili, and the money they could make in Moscow or Germany, but he's gotta deal with Peter. Duva is right, without a belt Oleg is nobody, the belt (as worthless as it is too real fans) still makes this an HBO main event fight, as opposed to a BAD or co-feature.

You answered the question yourself, this is probably his last payday and he wants to make as much money as possible. The usual purse spilt in a mandatroy defence is 70% for the champ and 30% for the challenger. The contract offered to him has 55% for him and 45% for Peter so it's obviuos that he isn't happy about that and wants the usual purse spilt. Why should he settle for that?

That's the problem with boxing: ambitious and corrupt men like Sulaiman, Valcarcel, Muhammad, etc, and also greedy promoters like King and Arum.

    Spot on.

...and thier lineage goes back to Klit who is generally considered the best right now.

Not bad, but its all alphebet soup. **** them all. I thought I had seen everything when the IBF came into existence. I never thought I would become so angry abou the situation again.

Its hard to beleive that I an now nostalgic for the days when there were only TWO world champs in each division, or even three.

The WBC most definitely has the most screwed-up situation surrounding their title belt at the moment.

Think back to when it was Rahman-Maskaev II...they were going to fight, and the winner would face Toney. It seemed so simple back then.

    Now? Total quagmire.

The IBF could be trying to outdo them though, if this proposed Byrd-Brock #1 contender bout was to happen...

Thats why wlad needs to beat the chagaev ibragamov winner, they will hold a lineage of victory over him, the titles they hold are almost secondary to that fact in terms of wlad proving he is the man. To redeem the brewster loss he needs to beat this winner.
