The good news is that Whyte is once again mandatory for Wilder's WBC trinket

The bad news is that he will need to wait until Feb 2021 for his first shot despite being mandatory for over 2 years (since Oct 2017)

I guess the best result for Whyte of the Fury Wilder rematch is a Fury win. It doesnt seem likely that Wilder ever fights him.

Regardless of how you think Whyte Wilder goes. Surely this kind of behaviour by a governing body makes a mockery of the sport?

Dillan will be doing his thing regardless and can thrive without wilder tbh.

He hasn't been mandatory for over 2 years. He became Mandatory by beating Rivas.
He was number 1 for 2 years but got overlooked by a combo of politics and ducks.

Utterly scandalous but equally predictable. Governing bodies ? At World level there are no governing bodies, only cartels who charge sanctioning fees and protect their own financial interests. I doubt Whyte could even take legal action with the WBC's offices being in Mexico.

Yes he has been ranked number 1 since October 2017 at around the time he beat Hellenius.

He briefly lost his mandatory status due to the failed PED test, but has regained it.

Whichever way you look at it. It is a disgrace.

Since October 2017 Wilder has had the following fights

    -Stiverne rematch
A rematch that no one wanted to see as he had done nothing since the first fight. It was a complete farce because Stiverne looked like an overweight drug addict.

    -Ortiz 1
A 50 year old cuban whose best win was against Byrant Jennings. Predictably gassed in the second half of the fight and was stopped.

    -Tyson Fury

    -Breazeale
A fight no one wanted to see, as he had already been knocked out and wasnt a serious contender.

    -Ortiz 2
Why knock a 50 year old cuban out once when you can knock him out twice. Again no one had interest in seeing this rematch.

So Wilder, can hardly argue he was fighting better opposition.

Wasn't the stiverne a late replacement for somebody?

Whyte got screwed by the Brezeale thing and what happened with Wilder outside the ring.

He then could have fought Ortiz to be the next mando but turned it down but was happy to face Rivas for the mando position. Had he not turned he may have had the fight by now.

Time for whyte to go for a different belt

the wbo title once AJ vacates?

the wbc is a complete embarrassment

hang on! Just looked at the heavyweight rankings and Whyte isn’t in the top 15 for the ibf, wba, wbo which is very surprising?

im pretty sure he was when I last looked? Is this because of the drugs thing?

I think first time around there's a perfectly sound case to make to say Ortiz was better than Whyte, or at least in and around a similar level, so that one is fine. The rematch wasn't really needed though he did come closer to KO'ing Wilder than anyone else ever has, so there is some merit. Breazeale was a mandatory.

The Fury fight is a better fight anyway. Their first was lots of fun and it'll solidify who the number 1 in the division is. What Whyte does between now and then is interesting though. Fighting cans for a year and not taking the risk of an L is a dangerous game in itself as he could lose sharpness (and he sure as **** didn't look sharp against Wach). Whereas if he takes dangerous fights then he could of course lose. Maybe he could float around the middle, fighting European level fighters. Wouldn't shock me if he is used as an AJ opponent in 2020 actually, let's hope he accepts the offer this time.

He lost his ranking with the WBC over the drugs test, so it wouldnt surprise me if the same thing happened with the other belts. I am sure he will be re ranked when they update their rankings.

Do people seriously think Wilder is scared to face Whyte ? It would be a massacre !! IMO Whyte is made for Wilder he would be knocked out early.

I think you lose the rankings once you are made mandatory. Whyte was in top 5 for a couple of them.

Yeah, plus some of them won't rank you if you've picked up certain belts from the other orgs too, I think
