Suppose to be better than the regular WBC belt which leaves to the question. What the hell did pac do to get placed as the best welter spot with just one fight at welter against oscar? I like Pac as much as the next guy but what is going on with this diamond belt?
Its all about money. Make another belt, then someone else can pay you to fight for the belt. Good business decision.
It's not supposed to be better than the regular WBC belt. It's simply a made up trinket being pimped out for monetary purposes. Supposedly, the Mayweather/Marquez fight will also be for a diamond belt. So there will be two Super Junior Welterweight(that's the made up name I gave for the made up divisions that these two fights will take place) Diamond champions. This belt is totally useless. It's a ****in joke, and an embarrasment to the sport. I can only imagine the reaction when I have to explain to my friends what the Diamond belt is when we're watching the fight.
They should market it as a pound 4 pound belt...but even then it's stupid. Can't put any reasoning behind it...i wonder how much the fee is for each boxer?
I posed this question a couple days ago, no one seemed to give a ****... (except one) But I defo think the "Diamond" belt is a slap to the face of the real WBC WW champion. Andre Berto.
