WBC "Geale can come over 157 and still win the title, we dont recognize catch weights

    SO if geale doesnt make 157 it doesnt matter because the MW limit is 160. Geale will have to pay a fine to New York but will still win the title!

    I actually LOVE THIS and big ups to the WBC for having this rule. We all dont like catch weights but it looks like the new ERA is all over it! Could be way more popular in the coming years. I like it when its used to make a big fight and there was no other way of making it. Theres cases of that, but i dont like it when somebody just does it to do it. makes no sense and most of the time the person asking for the catch weight is trying to get an advangte (not all the time but most) and that sucks. But big ups to WBC, title should still be able to be won by whoever because MW is 155-160.

    I wonder if all sanctioning bodies are like this??? If not they need to get with the WBC, These guys got it right! :good:good

    It's always been this way with all of the sanctioning bodies. You don't forfeit your right to fight for the title unless you are over the official division limit. I'm guessing there is an overweight penalty clause in the contract though.

    Yeah he gonna have to pay something. I dont think this dude will make weight just to make a statement. come in like 159 or something. make 160 but not 157

    Can you imagine Cotto's face when Geale just shows up just inside the MW limit at the weigh-in?! Comedy gold!

    that title is cottos ticket to a lucrative rematch vs mayweather. thats why he chose to fight geale, he thinks its a gimme.
