I'll believe the Povetkin-Stiverne fight is going to take place when they're both in the ring gloved up and the bell sounds.

This fight is in a little more than two weeks, and you hear nothing about it. The undercard appears to be a slapped together show featuring no one of note, so you can dump it at a moment's notice.

I just don't see it happening, even though it's on the schedule.

Considering Wilder will be back just after the new year begins, this Povetkin-Stiverne fight was totally unnecessary.

If the WBC can find any way to just be rid of it and go ahead and reschedule Wilder-Povetkin for February, I think they would.

A champ should not spend more than two years as full champ without facing a consensus or near consensus top ten hw in a title defense, even when it wasn't entirely his fault. Nor could they award the mandatory spot outright to someone they didn't clear completely in a drug controversy, even if they couldn't prove he did anything wrong. For those reasons, it was necessary to have an interim title fight.

Duhaupas and Szpilka represent the floor of what is an acceptable voluntary defense in my book. To keep digging lower, and to do it consecutively, is ridiculous.
