    Nothing new, or surprising. The WBC had Julio Cesar Chavez as the mandatory contender for Kostya Tszyu in 2000. Chavez hadn't fought at 140 in over two years (a draw with M.A. Gonzalez), he "earned" the mandatory by losing to Willy Wise and beating Buck Smith at Welterweight.

    At least they didn't rank a deceased fighter, like the WBO did.

    WBC made Austin/Solis fight winner the WBC mandatory without either fighting or beating a top heavyweight! So........I am not surprised.
