For Pacquiao maybe since his style do not last very long, Floyd's style? It'll last even in his late 30s and early 40s assuming he keeps on fighting.

Agreed on Pac's style, but what makes you say that with Floyd? How would we know for sure? Maybe. Maybe not.

But what fighter with Floyd's style has ever maintained elite level status into his 40s?

The thing with Floyd is that he is always in shape, has taken breaks from fighting , trains hard and has skills. Also the amount of punishment he has taken is not as much as many people his age and still fighting at the elite top level of their respective weight categories. I believe if Hopkins (yes different styles) can go onto 49 and still bring it, then Floyd should be able to continue in the same vein for next few years at least

Agree, with his vacations and his long breaks. Also he won't be fighting until May, 2014 which makes it 8 months since his last fight against Alvarez.

As for Pac he will be returning in the ring on April and he just fought 2 weeks ago.

he is in his late 30s now, more so next yr.

we are talking about the big fight not against some random not so bums.

if he is cherry picking in his early 30s, what do you think happens in his early 40s. come on.

Makes no difference, organisations don't force marquee fighters to fight their mandos. When was the last time a Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto or even a Marquez fought their mando?
