The whole point of wanting the WBC super title wasn’t to have the belt itself but more what it represented which was the best fighter of the division for that organisation. So now that there is a franchise belt the super title is just like an interim belt so it has lost its value. The WBC haven’t solved anything.
I see that Franchise belt as a "Diamond" belt kind of thing... should be fancy and all, but you just aren't the actual champion. Charlo is the WBC 160 champion now.
Oh no. They were completely sober as they just found a way for a) Canelo to save face not having to vacate and stay "champion" b) still get sanctioning money from Canelo c) get extra sanctioning money from Charlo now too
These sanctioning bodies are just about money, nothing else. They bend 'rules' any time to make extra coin. Felix Sturm has bribed the WBA (exposed by Ahmad Oner) with $200,000 in cash to grant him "Super Champion" status so he could duck his mandatory GGG. Money talks.
Well I'm just going to call it the WBC leach belt. They will now get sanction fees for all canelo fights and they dont run the risk of canelo telling them to **** off cuz there's no more mandatories. On top of that the WBC seem to be criminally favourable to the PBC and some of their fighters and I've just seen one become a full WBC world champion without even having to fight for it. The least they could of done is made number 1 and 2 fight for it it. When I see Dillian Whyte being held at WBC number 1 for 2 years and still being told to fight other fighters if he wants to get his chance at the title but then they are giving title away in another division it just highlights how they play by nobodies rules. Not even their own most of the time. This works for the WBC and it works for the PBC. I'm not seeing how it works for anybody else or the sport.
