Your selling points about his 3rd place don't tell much about him. Golovkin won gold by defeating successively Andy Lee, Lucian Bute and Yordanis Despaigne. One could wonder who was left in Sjekloca's half of the brackets...

To get it fair, he had a rather easy run up to the semifinals:
R32 Nikola Sjekloca - Jose Yebes (ESP) 22:9
R16 Nikola Sjekloca - Kimbatbek Riskulov (KGZ) 17:7
QF Nikola Sjekloca - Abdelhani Kinzi (ALG) 24:5
... then he met his match:
SF Oleg Mashkin (UKR) - Nikola Sjekloca 21:18
... who lost without glory in the final
Gennady Golovkin (KAZ) - Oleg Mashkin (UKR) RSCI 2nd round (10:6)

Not really a bum but far from impressive.

I've seen a couple of his fights at the pros. He will get crushed. Why the WBC chose him instead of Stevenson, I don't know. :bart

We will see but the professional level is completely different, that's true.
