from their site: WBC MID-YEAR REPORT ABOUT CONVENTION RULING ON EACH DIVISION June 1, 2015 Heavyweight: Since world champion Bermane Stiverne of Canada won a vacant title, he was required by WBC rules to make two mandatory title defenses. • The first, against No. 1 ranked Deontay Wilder of the United States, was held on January 17. Wilder won the title by UD12. • The second mandatory challenger was Bryant Jennings of the U.S. If Jennings would take another fight instead, the WBC would approve a final eliminator between No. 2 ranked Alexander Povetkin of Russia vs. No. 4 ranked Mike Perez of Cuba/Ireland to determine the second mandatory challenger. • Bryant Jennings fought and lost to Wladimir Klitschko for the titles of other organizations, on April 25, 2015. • Alexander Povetkin defeated by knockout Mike Perez in Round 1 on May 22, 2015 in Russia, becoming the mandatory contender of the division. Povetkin is the silver champion of the division. • Wilder vs. Eric Molina voluntary defense June 13 in Alabama • *Free negotiations for the next mandatory will be ordered in the month of October. looks like Wilder won't be given another free defense before October, and will either have to face Sasha, or vacate :bbb
Awesome, with the mando we'll be getting two good fights in the HW division with Wlad-Fury and Wilder-Povetkin, the winners face each other. The division could be heating up a bit this year.
