No and I'm glad I didn't. I argued about this with that bloke on here trying to promote it. The only ticket you could get over the weekend that would have gauranteed you'd have actually met some boxers cost £250 - well according to promoters it did (to actually buy a ticket would have cost £293 - A £43 ADMIN CHARGE IS ****ING RIDICULOUS)

I went to the premiere of the Howard Winstone movie "Risen" on the opening night last Thursday. Personally, I felt the film was pretty poor (but that's just my own opinion though and others may enjoy it).

In attendance were quite a few boxers, Junior Witter, Zab Judah, Ryan Rhodes, Earnie Shavers, Bonecrusher Smith, Tim Witherspoon, Enzo Maccarinelli, John Mugabi, Carlos Zarate, Javier Castillo, Jesse James Leija, Gabriel Ruelas, Glenn Catley, John H Stracey, Alan Minter, Humberto Gonzalez, Sergio Martinez, Krystof Wlordacyk (no idea if I've spelt that correct!), Giacobe Fragomeni, Iran Barkley, Robin Reid, Steve Robinson, Colin Jones, Eddie Avoth, Sharon Anyos, Mia St. John, and a fair few others who I can't recall off the top of my head.
None of the "marquee" names attended the movie though (Duran, Klitschko, Cotto, Froch, Benn, etc)

It was a great idea but you have to be sceptical when an event that big with so many ex champions and megastars of yesteryear were supposedly going yet it was never advertised through any media outlet (barring BN and BM)

The Great Britain vs The Rest Of The World amateur show last night ended in a 6-all draw too, though I didn't attend that.

Erik Morales hasn't made it over either, and he was actually in the movie playing Vicente Saldivar.

Mia St. John was announced as being there on the night and there was a woman on the stage during the line-up credited it with being her...
I'll check with Glenn Catley, because I noticed he was very keen to talk with the woman alleged to have been Mia St. John :hey

A few of the bigger names didn't make it, like Cotto, Morales, Benn, and a few of the others initially billed. Roberto Duran and Vitali Klitschko were there for the tournament and the dinner though. Zab Judah and Shannon Briggs were there all weekend, as well as loads of others. It was an awesome weekend, and a great chance to meet some true greats. The champions did meet-and-greets at every event, and signed loads of autographs and had loads of photos on all three days.

Mia St John didn't make it for some reason. The woman announced as her was Cecillia Braekhus.

There was plenty of advertising in Cardiff, as well as on Boxing News and some other boxing sites. If you look at their website you can see all the press they received as well. www.wbcnightofchampions.com

I went to all three nights, and got talking to one of the promoters who let me in to the hospitality after party too, where I got to meet Zab Judah, Shannon Briggs, Alan Rudkin, Roberto Duran, Vitali Klitschko, John 'The Beast' Mugabi, Bonecrusher Smith, and a few others (They're just the ones I got photos with before my camera died!)

Also, I got my tickets through the WBC Cardiff office, and they didn't charge me the ridiculous admin charge - that was the Cardiff Arena Box Office.

It was a brilliant weekend, and those who didn't come really missed out. The promoters said they're hoping to do it again in 2013, so fingers crossed!

On the BBC, they said Pacquiao and Calzaghe were attending. I take it that's bull**** then?

That film looked absolutely ****, and i remember the main actor in it saying that "some of the fighter said i could be a pro", they MUST of been humouring him

Had considered going but had a feeling it wouldn't be quite as good as it seemed on paper although I did get to talk to Zab on Ustream the other morning which was as good as being there :hey

I was there with my dad, Alan Rudkin and we had a great time but we were guests so we got more access I suppose. Highlight for me was meeting Rafael Herrera, Alfonso Zamora and Carlos Zarate and of course Duran. Enjoyed the GB rest of the world, Tom Stalker, the Liverpool lad was in the fight of the night. I was actually sitting 3 foot away from Duran during that. Enjoyed the film, Morales couldn't get there cos he's in training but I think they are gonna show it at the Azteca in Mexico before Morales next fight Young Howard Winstone has been invited as Morales guest.
