Campbell will get knocked out and be delighted like Rocky was against Canelo. Smiling at all the PPV loot he has earned just to get knocked out
Can just hear the bull making out it is a 50/50 fight with Campbell coming to win - this reels the mugths in every time.
He’s fighting in the same weight class at 31 that he was at 25. You just can’t keep doing that to your body without it catching up to you in the end. You naturally get bigger in your late 20’s/early 30’s. I’ve always rated Campbell but I don’t give him a chance against any of the top lads at 135 now, never mind Loma who would stop him. Just my opinion but I think Campbell should be at 140. Too many British fighters overstay their welcome in divisions they’ve essentially spent their pro careers in.
Loma's CV just keeps getting better and better if he keeps things going as they are in 12 months time he'll have surpassed Ali and SRR and on the ATG list (he already has on pure talent obviously but he's a win over Luke Campbell and Mikey Garcia away from surpassing their level of opposition).
They don't generally, however Lomachenko's team requested it and they accepted. I'm guessing this is because the green & gold belt will not be seen as prestigious in that weight class unless the real champion (Loma) holds it. Money talks. Definitely gonna be PPV, not sure about a stadium though. Campbell did box Coyle in a small stadium though?
I reckon this is a tough sell for PPV. Campbell has never really had the big breakout fight, he's not the sort of character who generates attention, and for all the fact that Lomachenko is brilliant he's barely been heard of by your average punter and they need to be buying it for it to work. Add whilst it's not an exact science the lighter the weight the harder the sales pitch. Regarding the venue, a smaller stadium can be a bit of a risk as well. Take the Saunders fight next week; obviously they can get a few more on the pitch but it's only a 6.7k capacity which is a lot smaller than most regional arenas. Plus, whilst you'd hope it brightens up for him, at the minute in Stevenage it's grey and pouring with rain. If Brook Golovkin and Haye Bellew can be in an arena then surely this can. Stadiums for me should be used when there is a demand for 30k+ in attendance; otherwise what's the point?
Wow a fairly objective post. Only one bit I disagree with - obviously you'd love it if it poured with rain for the Saunders fight !
Campbell is quality but Lomachenko is in another league. This is one PPV that I object to a lot less though. I don’t care if that average man on the street wont buy it. This is far more PPV worthy than most of the other rubbish.
Is this Arum taking revenge for getting the Crolla fight “shoved up his arse” by Hearn and the WBA? Let’s face it, the Crolla fight was a bust in the US and Arum was moaning about having to overpay Crolla to prevent it going to purse bids. So he figures, lets scupper Hearns plans for an in-house DAZN fight between Haney - Campbell for the belt, and try to get Eddie to have to pay for Campbell - Loma. Let him have it in England with the condition it has to be on ESPN... Loma will then win, and then he can unify with Richard Commey which is what Arum wanted to do instead of Crolla anyway, before he got injured.
