Mental that some people think that adding scrubs like Allen v Browne on the undercard helps justify this as a PPV. Both guys are one or two defeats away from proper journeymen status. And I’ve said it before, but the only guy of any note Chisora has beaten is Takam, And we only say that because he didn’t get knocked out in the first three rounds by Joshua. People like these in headline fights are how Carson Jones suddenly became a credible main event fighter over here after losing twice to Brook. Just because we know who they are, doesn’t make them any good!
Big victory for Matchroom this and severely dents Frank Warren and Shirley winkels hope of keeping the HW division locked up , a victory for all of boxing , well played Eddie my son well played.
Breazeale has beaten nobody ,Ugonoh had him on the verge of a ko .He is big, strong with a big heart and can punch,he is also slow , easy to hit ,and without boxing skills. The fact he is seen as a very risky fight for Whyte says it all. Maybe Whyte can parlay a win into a challenge against the winner of the Fury v Wilder rematch? If that's his plan he wants to hope Wilder wins that one. My two preferred match ups would have been Joshua v Ortiz & Whyte v Miller, an excellent support would have been Parker v Pulev. I like Whyte, he comes to fight and isn't afraid of anyone, but I think he should have gone for the AJ option. Dillian v Miller or Kowanacki would be entertaining and winnable fights for Whyte.imo
Did you miss the part about Breazeale being a mandatory? This is a tactical move, to position Whyte into two world title fights. AJ will always be on the cards shoulld Whyte continue to succeed. But at this stage he isn't going to be a guinea pig for lesser fighters to take his meal ticket... Let the Millers and Kownackis work their own way to the top....the hard way... grind Dillian is simply staying busy and making money while he puts himself in a better position for the big title fights later in the year. He backs himself for the long-term, his attitude says it all. And it is highly admirable no matter how misplaced you think it is. He could have rolled over like the rest, and cashed out with AJ.... but he's in it to retire with as much memories, money and legacy as he can grind for. Kudos for the work ethic and integrity.
to be fair it was Brezeales 18th fight but was awfu! He barley landed a punch and got credit because he could take a beating for a few rounds. Smith was giving it the 'Brezeale is doing better than most expected'. He wasnt he was actually worse than i expected but showed a decent chin. If Whyte doesnt beat Brezeale comfortably then he has no business fighting for a world title imo.
Who do you have between Breazeale and Wilder? Similar reach.... Breazeale can crack when he wants too, and both have decent chins.
No, I know he is a mandatory ,my question is why? WTF has he beat? Whyte will never be in a better position to fight AJ than he is at present he is the more experienced man and bang in his prime at 30.I hope he dusts Breazeale and gets a shot at Wilder, but I'm not confident Wilder would fight him. Why you think I should believe Whyte's attitude is misplaced is a mystery,I think he would have been better served taking the £ 6M that's all I said! If Whyte falls foul of Breazeale , who can punch if nothing else, everyone on here and their Grannies will be saying silly **** should have took the title shot! If he wins and Fury beats Wilder ,which I expect him to do, do you think Whyte will be getting more than £6m to challenge Fury? Fury will box his ears off too ,so that will be the end of that particular gravy train! Memories and legacies are all very well but you can't eat them! Too many boxers have ended up in straightened circumstances, and being punched in the face isn't an easy way to make a living
Why is Breazeale a mando? You might want to google that one, it involves some WBC history and Eric Molina. Regardless... the new Whyte fight is done and is happening. Will Whyte make more money against Wilder v Fury, as opposed to the offer by AJ? Maybe... but it is unlikely. Not an impossibility. Too many factors right now to decide right what the landscape will look like by the end of the year. Whyte is just playing chess, you are thinking in terms of checkers. AJ makes an offer and you want Whyte to jump at it. Nope, Whyte is going to decline and come back with more bargaining power. Option 1 WBO Mando is coming up so Whyte likely has another chance to secure a fight with AJ except this time there will be no silly rematch splits if AJ loses. Option 2 (In progress) Whyte fights breazeale for the interim tile and positions himself for a shot at the Wilder v Fury fight. Possible outcomes Whyte could fight AJ for WBO manfatory defence, no rematch clause, he could win and then he can dictate future purses with AJ which AJ will desperately want. AJ is still young and still in search of legacy and unification. Whyte can then secure a huge unification fight with Wilder or Fury and make tons of cash Whyte could lose to AJ in the defense, but has another title shot in place with Wilder or Fury Whyte could beat Wilder/Fury and go back to AJ if he is still champion and negotiate a strong split now that he has a world title belt. Whyte could lose to Wilder/Fury and have lost to AJ but he will have had two title shots, and made a lot of money. He could retire or he could do it all again. Everything carries risk, Whyte is backing himself to win against these guys.
Good fight, will be entertaining for sure but never in a million years is it PPV. If this is PPV and sells well for £20 then Eddie may well interpret it as a green light to begin his £25 to watch AJ PPV's venture, it's coming lads.
