All this Canelo is ducking Benavidez talk is nothing more the PBC marketing to build interest in a fight between Canelo and Benavidez who is a fighter who's best win is Caleb Plant. When the fight happens it will be like Calzaghe vs Lacy, proven long term elite champion vs over hyped contender who's beaten nobody that's really good.

But I must admit PBC doing a good job in creating this ducking narrative to sell the fight and make those gullible fans happily hand over their cash to watch a mismatch.

    Slow claps for WBC.

After Canelo beats Charlo, I hope he fights Morrell first. I don't want that 'regular' belt to exist on God's green earth.

If Canelo destroys Benavidez, BF24 will go insane.

Probably, you'll have those in denial creating excuses, then those who will admit they were wrong and in hindsight Benavidez was always nothing special and they fell for the hype, then you'll have those who called in right and will be gloating and bumping posts about how Bendavidez destroys Canelo. Basically like it was after Crawford/Spence.

I favour Canelo over Benavidez too, but I still want to see it.

The main question mark for me is that I don't think Canelo has been at his best lately, but I presume he'll manage to get up for this one - he definitely doesn't want to lose to Benavidez.

I'd like to see it too and I think it will happen for his last fight with his deal with PBC as was basically leaked as the plan when he signed the deal so people would watch his mismatch vs Charlo.

Canelo is probably past his prime, but he will have had too dropped off a lot more than I have seen if he is to lose to Benavidez. Stylistically Benavidez has always been a type of fighter he's excelled against. Comes forward, walks into counters, easy to hit. If Benavidez is to win he's going to have to out work Canelo while walking into hard counters and hope he can break down Canelo which not even the much harder hitting GGG couldn't do. It's far more likely the iron chinned Canelo is the one that breaks down Benavidez.

Yea I agree, Canelo has slipped slightly over the last year or so but it could end up being just enough for Benevidez to capitalize on if they fought. I've been saying for the last few years now, that a delay only helps Benavidez as Canelo is getting older, and Benevidez getting better. Canelo needs to fight him this year, no excuses.

No, there will be two excuses:

    1. Canelo waited until he couldn't make weight
-From those being the loudest right now

    2. Benavidez never beat anyone.
-From those who are slightly smarter than the ones being loud right now

You keep mentioning this supposed ‘weak resume’ but what did that make the resumes of Plant, Sanders, Yildirim, Ryder or Smith at 168? What was a 40 year old GGG’s accomplishments? What about a guy two weight divisions smaller who was inactive? You lot seem to be fine with Canelo picking easy touches while avoiding pretty much the only notable contender at 168.

Doesn’t matter who wins, people just want to see the fight. A lot probably still believe Canelo wins, doesn’t mean he can keep dodging the fight to take soft touches like a washed GGG and a guy two weight divisions smaller.

Smith, Saunders, Plant were SMW champions, Benavidez was not. Simple even a simpleton can understand.

Had Benavidez been a true professional and not tested positive for Cocaine, and then not failed to make weight, he could have gotten the golden ticket for that mega payday like Smith, Saunders, and Plant.

Now he has to wait until Canelo is good and ready to get his golden ticket.

BTW, have you ever compared Benavidez' resume and Canelo's?

What Benavidez should do is fight Munguia to imlrohis resume and the winner should fight Canelo in September or May 2025.

Considering that Canelo has spent his career fighting more champions and former champions, I think he out of anyone else can get a pass for collecting easy paydays.

Tell me, what MW, SMW or LHW has fought more champions and former champions than Canelo?

Don't you think it's time for other people to take more risks?
