Since when a sanctionning body (IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO) is imposing a unification fight??? What the heck is that.

The WBC, WBA and !BF have held several rounds of discussions this year WRT to working towards unified champions (along with other matters).

The plans weren't due to come to fruition until 2016, but it seems like in the case of GGG and Kovalev (who would likely have been facing Rubio / Pascal whether or not the mando status had been at stake) the circumstances were fortuitous enough to bring the plan forward somewhat.

I'm guessing there's other factors at work behind the scenes also but the matter of the ABCs looking to unify have been reported on several times this year.

    this
the WBC is a joke, this once again proves it
besides they also said "the WBC feels its belt is the best, anyone who unifies will be stripped"
    :rofl

That is great news since boxers use their belt to milk their career (which they should do to) sometimes without fighting the best opposition. It is to our favour (fans) if their is more unification fight.

In this case it doesn't really matter since the Pascal-Stevenson unification fight was happening anyway.

As with most things, image and popularity matters. Money matters more.

The WBC would rather have its name attached to fighters with a better reputation and who can bring in more money for them, either directly or via under the table payments.

It's the same reason they changed some things around to make sure GGG, Cotto, and Alvarez are all fighting for their belt. They want to make sure the biggest fights have their belts on the line, so if Stevenson won't play ball, they'll pass it to someone who will.

Frankly, a well-placed envelope from Stevenson/Haymon could probably solve this is he still doesn't want to make the fight.

If making things up as they go along is the biggest hurdle for the WBC, that's not going to do much to deter them.

Stevenson is predictable and glass jawed unfortunately the guy he's fighting has no defence, so pump man may get the win.

sukhotsky looses against any 175lber from montreal....he would even loose to david lemieux who is 160....stevenson will blow him out the water....then he looses his belt to either pascal or kovalev because they both beat stevenson:deal
