Dan Rafael ESPN 1 hour · Danny Garcia-Viktor Postol purse bid moved yet again by wretched WBC. By my count this is the 4th date: 9/12, 10/1, 10/6, now 10/20. I bet this fight never happens. ‪#‎boxing‬
I think the inference is that the WBC pushed it back at the request of DSG / Big Al. It looks like they're considering dropping the belts to move up to 147, but it's likely they're trying to find a big enough fight so it can be sold as 'taking the bigger fight / risk' so that Danny doesn't get a Quillin type backlash for vacating. TBH I think it's BS. If, as seems likely, they're not planning to make the fight anyway, they shouldn't be jerking Postol (and the WBC) around just for the sake of damage limitation. Other fighters have to be getting on with their careers too.
I don't know. With a ref that calls excessive low blows that fight with Matthyse could have been very different, then we have Herrera who arguably beat Danny. Postol has KO'd Aydin and beaten Lundy handily. Not to take anything away from Danny but when you arguably lose to Herrera and then go and fight a C level lightweight and force him to fight you at 142 pounds in Salka, its very easy to see why with this mentality, Danny, or his people, don't want to deal with Postol, an undefeated fighter who typically wins very wide decisions and has zero name recognition, high risk low reward. Maybe they can give Salka a rematch at 147 on Haymon's new NBC show. That would be brave. I'll go watch Postol fight someone interested in being the best.
