In this case, the belt means nothing, Ryan beating Haney is what counts

    It's a difficult call this.

Had Garcia made 140 would he still have won?

    We'll never know.

Had Haney not cut weight himself and came in at 143 would be have still lost?

    We'll never know.

If it was a pound it'd be a non question IMO. 3 1/4 pounds is enough to make it a bit open ended really.

For me it's those last few pounds that Haney had to cut and Garcia didn't. Ot might just be the difference. Think I'd like an immediate rematch.

An immediate rematch would be great.

    Why?
It was a non-title fight. It makes no sense to to strip Haney when Garcia can´t win the belt.
People seem to be upset not because of the rules but because of Haney.

I remember it happening with Judah and the IBF but that was a sanctioning fee issue.

What’s the issue? Garcia didn’t make weight.

WBC are Daffy Ducked but I have no issue with this decision.

Vacate and order a rematch would be the best course I think.

But of course it can't be given to Garcia without him making weight and winning the rematch. In that case they might as well stop having weight limits.

So I hope no one here is clueless enough to think it should go straight to Garcia.

The usual chicanery, change their “rules”when it suits them. Haney will be used to this as he was gifted an email lightweight, whatever it was, in recent years.
As a rehydrated 160 pounder, he should be the last one complaining about weight limits.

This belt is a curse from now on.

For sure Garcia wishes he made weight but...

There are so many titles now, they don't mean as much as they used to.

Garcia's built himself into a social media star. That probably means more to him than a title.

Good point, Garcia has only himself to blame
