GGG would start his own lineage as long as Cotto and Canelo leave the 160 division.

Why would Roc Nation pay the WBC sanctioning fees, lmao. WTF...

He'd have to technically still beat whoever was #2 at the time of the winner's departure from the division.

That's why this is a "wait and see" thing. You guys keep talking about nothing and going into circles and Cotto paid step aside money to GG. Once that was done, which is the best thing GG has done..I knew that Cotto nor Canelo would be able to fight anyone else or be stripped. The only thing that Canelo might be privy to is a special voluntary defense, and imo that won't be granted.

A lot of the joy and anger I've seen in this thread over what essentially comes down to a corrupt boxing organization's sanctioning fees is fascinating.

Which technically he would. So, he would indeed start his own lineage after Cotto or Canelo leaves division. Which I don't think Canelo will/can. He'll remain at Caneloweight.

I knew that. You must of bought every album Jay Z dropped. People like you are a laughing stock. There are so many boxers in this wonderful world wide sport. But you decide to ride or die with Roc Nation because of external reasons like I said!

You seem to be agreeing with me, so I'm not sure why you say I'm talking about nothing.

Yeah, I hear ya, lmao. You didn't even know the rules to a fighter who pays and accepts step aside money. Tyson knew he had to fight Lewis or be called a coward forever.

I'm not following you. How do we even know who would be the #2 middleweight if Canelo leaves the division?

It would probably be Quillin if he wins his next fight.

Look at it this way: if Cotto wanted to maintain the ABC belt, it'd have been 300k for this fight.

Then, step aside money for GGG (if he won). That figure would not be cheap, as the price goes up every time GGG accepts it (and he's already stepped aside for Geale and Canelo)..

Finally, sanctioning fees for his next/final fight.

All told, we'd be well into the 7 figure range. From a financial perspective, if Cotto knows he's got one foot out the door and doesn't want Golovkin to kick the rest of him out, it makes much more sense to drop the title now and pocket some substantial savings.

Going through the dropping process after the fight is both more expensive and makes his next PPV fight a tougher sell if he was dead set on it not being GGG.

Win or lose, I think theres a very steong chance we see a Bradley fight next as his endgame.

GGG- knowing that he'd have to fight the #2 MW to start his lineage- would go after whoever the #2 MW is at that time. (but more likely Lee/Saunders in the immediate future) Considering he beats everyone at 160, he would succeed. The only problem would be if #2 would duck him, which... looking at history... is very likely for GGG.

How do you know that Cotto has "zero" intentions of fighting GG when he paid him step aside money? And how many champions do you know give away a belt to someone? The only time you don't fight a guy when you pay step aside money is if you lose.
