He's the MW champ because he beat the MW champ. He I the biggest diva in the sport and I hope he gets his **** pushed in.
That does not appear to be the reason for Cotto being stripped. According to an extract from the WBC site: This content is protected From this, it would appear that the issue was not sanctioning fees (which Cotto would have been aware of from day one) but rather, his refusal to sign the agreement to face his mandatory. Apparently, Canelo has agreed and signed and, if victorious against Cotto, will face Golovkin next.
I keep having the distinct feeling this event is going to bomb in terms of the promoters original predictions. Two fine fighters with very little personalities just have not made a big impression on the public.
What do you mean? Hopkins beat every top contender and unified all the 5 belts. Hopins-Taylor-Pavlik-Martinez-Cotto. How hard is that to follow? Cotto is the champion even though it looks like Golovkin is the king.
pretty sad we have the cotto haters/ggg superfans trying to act like this was about not signing to fight the mandatory in ggg......I don't think a lot of fat dan....but fat dan usually has contacts and decent knowledge of whats going on and his report on the subject, which mostly came from cotto, was that this was about money..... the wbc knows what cotto is making and they want their "piece"....they run a good racket...cotto said eff you I don't need your belt ....don't need to be taken advantage of by the wbc ......and they didn't like it....point blank....they might try to put out some spin or damage control.....but money was the bottom line in this decision....if cotto wanted to pay them what they wanted this thread wouldn't exist
:rofl For you believing that ****. I would bet my life that Canelo will not fight GGG next if he beats Cotto. It won't happen next period. GBP won't allow it and The WBC won't enforce it. They're not going to make Canelo fight GGG right after a mega fight against Cotto it's simply wishful thinking to think so.:deal
Believing or disbelieving was not my point. I was merely pointing out that the WBC stated that Cotto being stripped had nothing to do with sanctioning fees, and everything to do with refusing to sign an agreement to face his mandatory. According to their website, Canelo HAS signed the agreement. This is not a matter for opinion. Either he did, or he didn't. They say he did. I expect if he didn't, he would set the record straight. The question then becomes, does he abide by what he signed after he picks up the title ? His choices would be a) Fight GGG in the Spring b) Negotiate another step-aside with GGG/WBC and delay his mandatory till the Fall. c) Be stripped, just like Cotto. I couldn't say which of these will happen. I know that any attempt to duck GGG will not go down well with his Mexican fan base, who are generally warm towards GGG, and this would probably hurt him in the long run. He still has about ten years or so left on his career, maybe longer.
I agree with pimp c....and ive said that for awhile....when we were discussing the possibilities after canelo/cotto cant see the wbc forcing canelo to fight cotto and ggg back to back....
