In the the place where you get NEWS about FIGHTS
Jose Sullaiman was proposing open scoring for future fights in the US
He said problems from last weekends fight would've been avoided if open scoring was used
    What do you guys think???
If I wasn't mistaken, didn't they use this for a J. Taylor fight before and it ended up as a disaster or something

They should have a TV scorer. Why do things archaically for the sake of tradition

By TV I mean an official judge who's observation is through the broadcast that everyone is watching

Boxing has already tried open scoring... seems the idea is better then its realities

I know it has its benefits
But I think one of the beauty of our sport is that element of surprise
That feeling of not knowing the outcome when a ko wasn't registered or when watching a really close fight
    That's a "spectators" perspective I guess
I guess looking at it as the boxer in the ring, I wouldn't mind knowing how I'm actually doing in the judges' view

What would it achieve except being pissed off before the final decision?

It takes away of the suspense. And the robberies are gonna happen in the close rounds.

Im against open scoring. As others have already said, it takes away element of surprise when watching a fight.

I'm for it. It would take away fighters cruising the final rounds and then crying that they were robbed in a close fight. It would also allow for fighters so far down on the cards and with no chance of a KO to quit without taking unecessary punishment. It could act as a good deterrent to stop judges from giving dodgy scores knowing their scorecards will be scrutinised in real time by the everyone watching.

What actually went wrong with it 1st time?

It sounds like a great idea and would potentially get rid of cries of robbery.

The amount of disasters that would have been avoided.

Even this weekend. Marquez would cry robbery, and you could just say, but you knew you were down in the last round why didn't you throw more.

Instead it would end in a situation where fighters who know they are leading will coast during the final rounds. It will remove the crying after sure, but it might encourage coasting/cruising.

And for some reason, encouraging quitting for a light hitting fighter behind on points seems a bid sad.

TBH the only advantage I see is that it might prevent dodgy scoring.
