WBC to order a 6 man Light Welterweight Tournement (Involving Ajose Olusegun)

    An elimination was ordered between #2 Ajose Olusegun and #3 Ionut Dan Ion (Jo Jo Dan) for the mandatory challenger status. Terms of the fight have not been agreed upon by representatives or promoters of the fighters to date. A six man tournament was recommended by President Sulaiman to determine a mandatory challenger to champion Devon Alexander. With #1 rated Manny Pacquiao tied up with his fight against Miguel Cotto on November, the remaining #2 through #7 fighters could compete. They are: #2 Ionut Dan Ion, #3 Ajose Olusegun, #4 Ali Cheebah, #5 Cesar Cuenca, #6 Prawet Singwancha, #7 Jung Bum Kim.

    Ajose should fight all the opponents on 1 night and then win the title the next day. I can not believe how weak that division is.

    dont think anyone would expect it to get shown. maybe the Ajose fights if there in the UK.

    BTW the WBC have set up a web streaming service where you can watch WBC fights where not avalible in your country.

    I've never heard of half of those guys.

    I guess with the orgs not ranking champions of the other orgs (and their mandatory contenders) you can get guys like these appearing in the top 10.

    There is clearly a doubt as to whether Hatton would fight again, and whether he would be interested in something like this, but to not have him above some of these guys is just lunacy.

    Seems like pushing Sulaiman at the Mayweather weigh-in didn't do him any favours :yep

    Does Olu still post? I miss him telling us what Ajose would do to Cotto, Mosley etc

    Another year goes by and he's still done **** all.

    For me the classic moment, and there were a few, was when he was angry that Amir Khan was rated higher in the ratings than Ajose AFTER Khan had won the WBA! :D

    Part of me honestly believes that he never believed any of it but just wanted people to be talking about him.

    By the way, if Ajose does end up in this tournement it will be the worse thing possible for his career. It will take 18 months to 2 years to complete and he'll then be the wrong side of 30. He needs to get over his delusions of granduer and conentrate on becoming an established British/Commonwealth champion.

    The thing is that 140lbs is one of the best divsions in boxing right now but the WBC's rankings are appalling. Look at some of the other guys in the division:
    • Bradley
    • Khan
    • Alexander
    • Malignaggi
    • Diaz
    • Maidana
    • Possibly Marquez
    • Possibly Hatton

    My God, that is terrible. I have only heard of Ajose, Cheebah and Ionut - who the hell is Jung Bum Kim :lol:
