Growing up I never really paid attention to Carlos Gonzalez. However, I was as recently at an event in Mexico that paid tribute to him. The thing to note is that he fought in the shadow of Chavez... but still he won 84% of 55 wins by KO. By far not the greatest of Mexican fighters but one of the funnest to watch [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijdJqedo9Ho&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
I like Bollilo and he was the WBO champ for a while he was a big puncher but had some technichal deficiencies, but he was a exciting i saw him twice live. One was his Blowout 1st round ko of a comebacking Tony Baltazar and his exciting decision over Hector Lopez which i thought could have gone either way. Heard he got robbed in his first title fight against Parisi but he knocked him out in the rematch. Also remember Seeing HIm and Zack Padilla go to war it was exciting and both one of their best fights Padilla got that decision. It was on the Undercard of some huge PPV fight cant remember? I see Maidana as a poor mans Bollilo.
Carlos Gonzalez either lacked that certain charisma or had poor managers handling his career..... He was another Mexican shooting-star in the works and racked up a buncha' KO's in rather fast fashion, but then he hit a wall and got clocked and stopped, and it all just came tumbling down for him...... He never developed his career in the USA as to where HBO or Showtime would pick up on him..... Off topic, yet I recall another vato named 'Engels Pedroza' or something like that fighting back about 20 yrs ago and he too was kickin' some ass on the club circuit scene, but went to hell after suffering a pair of losses never to regain his earlier form..... Again, way off topic... But for the record I never was sold on either Sammy Fuentes or Cubanito Perez back in the late 80s.... They were being hyped but they never really made it big....... MR.BILL
I agree no defense but the guy had some amazing power Too bad Zach's career was ended when one of Mosley's punches ended his career.
Yey but a prime Camacho went life and death with Cubanito who was pretty damn good. I thought highly of Fuentes when he was coming up but they rushed him too fast and he lost a string of fights he was lightning fast and hit hard when he was a prospect . He ended up becoming a contender again and had some good wins even grabbing a WBO jw title but by then his reflexes and speed werent even close to what they were although he still good bang. Bollilo was a legit top JW dont think you give him enough credit. As for Engeles Pedroza he should even be mentioned with those guys^^ He was a hot prospect but was never even a contender. Big puncher but Thats it. Those guys mentioned above were all top guys in their weight class and Gonzalez,Fuentes alphabet titilist.
hey Addie do you know the chick in my avi? Hint she was at the Delahoya-Chavez I press conference that you were also security at. She was there dressed casual not doing her promos or nothing, i was down in the press area not with the fans up in the stands. I **** you not she gave me some play and i was on my way until she got pulled away by photograhers, publicity people etc etc.atschatschatsch Seen a few times doing signing of photographs what not but the moment had passedatsch
Yeah I think Gonzalez hit harder as well, but Maidna has better handspeed then did Bollilo. I cant decide a winner either way, but one of them would get stopped.
Aladino ALanis of Argentina who for this fight was the Favorite. Incidentally it was the first time he had ever been Knocked Out
On the same tought wave. There were two other Gonzalez' which had tremendous potential, but didn't really pan out. Rodolfo "Gato" Gonzales in the 80's And Alejandro "Cobrita" Gonzalez Bothe were thought to be dominant, but fell short. Bollilo was my favorite though, Boy could he bang! A typical Mexican warrior, no fear. He would just brawl, win, lose or draw. exciting fighter to watch!
