Here's an article about it from yesterday: http://www.*****.net/news/2013/10/12/wbc-world-cup-heavyweight-and-welterweight-draws.html
Decent line up, Solis should take it but Takam wouldn't suprise me. Will be supporting big Sam though.
According to this, Carlos Takam will fight Odlanier Solis in Mexico City on Friday Oct 18. http://boxingnews.com.ua/ru/novosti/6620-odlaner-solis-vstretitsja-s-karlosom-takamom Here's more details from fightnews: http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/wbc-world-cup-preview-228857
i fully believe this is done so the "new " mandatory challenger will be a walk in the park for Vitali's Swan song and it will be used by the WBC to remove Stiverne's WBC#1 ranking and Mandatory Challenger status. atsch
Probably has more to do with desperately trying to get Arreola the belt in the easiest way possible than getting Vitali an easy fight. If it was up to the WBC all of their champions would be of Mexican descent.
I'm just happy that there's some decent heavyweight fights being made. Odlanier Solis vs. Carlos Takam on Oct 18 is a very good matchup. Takam is underrated and has a real chance of beating Odlanier.
will this take as long as the super middleweight comp, super 6, if so VK will have served a term in office if elected, would have been a good comp for Tyson Fury to be in to test himself, maybe even Haye so he could say he actually earned a crack at VK , if that the prize? or will the :roll:winner be the NEW interim champ and get a pat on the back and some fancy looking belt .what ever should be interesting.
this makes no sense.......... WBC World Cup kickoff postponed We’ve just received information that the WBC has asked the promoters and participants of the WBC World Cup Tournament to postpone the inauguration of the tournament as a sign of respect and solidarity for WBC President Jose Sulaiman and his current medical condition as he recovers from his recent heart surgery. Sulaiman worked tirelessly for several years to put together the World Cup, which brings together the champions of all WBC-affiliated federations with the winner to become a challenger of the reigning world champion. The postponement will allow Sulaiman to be involved in all the activities involving the tournament. The 82-year-old longtime WBC President is presently recovering at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
