Remember when the late WBC president Jose Sulaiman clearly stated the org was against unification, and wanted unified champions who held a WBC belt to vacate the other organisation's belt? That was merely 1½ years ago.

Since his son Mauricio Sulaiman took over after his father bit the big one a lot has changed. The WBA, IBF and WBC have had a couple of meetings since, fighters with other belts have been positioned in mandatory positions and now Sulaiman states that unifications are needed "for the good of the sport".

I don't know 'bout you guys, but I like Mauricio a lot more as I did his father, who only did a lot to destroy the sport.

I wouldnt put much trust in it, you can bet Sulaiman jr has something to gain by doing so

Oddly enough i only know of Gennady Golovkin getting this honor who is HBO's star fighter right now

just imagine if the federations unified (for the good of the sport)
    wouldn't that be something ;)

what good is a unified champion if the federations break them up soon after because two of them throw a hissy fit when the champ chooses to defend against the 'wrong man'?

This is true they all need to be on the same page ..We don't need to be subjected to fluffy title defenses

Nope. They're also did it for the Kovalev/Pascal winner (Stevenson must fight him after the Mohammedi defence), the current HW situation and stated to do the same for LSC, Yamanaka and even FLoydypants.

That's good to hear. The WBC's stance never made any sense (for us fans) and its good to hear they might become more open minded.
