If, and I think when Canelo beats Kovalev, will he drop the belt? Either way, who is holding the belt this time next year? Personally wouldn't be shocked if either Hearn or Warren has a british figher involved in a vacant title shot...
Knowing that Canelo doesn't fight his mandatories, it will be vacant pretty soon if he were to win against Kova. Can you imagine how close 160 was to unification until Alvarez got his paws on Golovkin's belts? Now they're all scattered again, only one single year after the 2nd fight we have 4 different beltholders. WBA Canelo (still, but for how long?) IBF vacant, Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko winner. WBC Charlo A WBO Andrade (never in the original pack, held hostage for years)
Hopefully Yarde is offered a shot at the WBO title again against a younger, fresher and more hungry top ranked opponent. The level of outright delusional from Yarde fans is starting to upset me, it makes me feel unhappy. They talk like Kovalev is in his prime, I want to see Yarde ruined.
I think its an all out charm war by both Hearn and Warren to get their fighter v a nobody for it. Smith jumps up from 168 for it, or Hearn pushes Buatsi for it then makes the Anfield fight later next year. Warren gets Yarde back in against anyone he can get his hands on. Be interesting to see where where the Josh and Yarde are in the rankings in the coming months...
I could see a situation where IF Canelo beats Kovalev, then he will vacate and Gilberto Ramirez will snatch the vacant belt. That is a big IF though as if all is a level playing field I expect Kovalev to beat Canelo.
