WBO declares Alex Leapai to be Wladimir Klitschko's official mandatory

I wonder if the public in Germany will finally react to this. Wlad hasn't had a good fight in years, hell, half a decade probably but lately, his opponents have either been insultingly bad or he stunk the place out when his opponent was even remotely dangerous like Povetkin and Haye.

Like, how much less interesting is a boxing champion supposed to get before people bail out? How does ANYBODY enjoy what he's been doing for years? I understand that Leapai gaining #1 contender status is hardly his fault but there's Pulev, Chisora and Fury out there - all of whom would give him a WAY better fight and are clearly more legit. Given how shady K2 have acted in the past years, I don't buy that "they didn't accept the contract, get over it" garbage - I wouldn't submit to slave contracts either.

Seriously, it's great for him that he upset Boytsov and that is a terrific Rocky story, but that shouldn't get you the shot by itself. Anyone know Leapai's WBO ranking before that?

Huh. Well I guess that isn't quite as bad as if he vaulted from like twenty-something up to #1 solely on the basis of just defeating Boytsov...

 

What is worse? This guy being Wlad's Mandatory or Wilder being #3 in the WBC and hasn't fought anyone with a pulse and isn't planning to anytime soon either.

 

Both are pretty bad. I weep for this division.

chisora and fury are clowns. chisora has no chin left, and is getting british stoppages against nobodies. fury is the british deontay wilder, without the power.

 

I'd prefer to see leapai back himself and try and knock wlads block off, even if he gets ko'ed in the 2/3 round, rather than the recent guys who forgot to take their balls with them into the ring, get beat over 12 boring rounds.

Ok DK I believe is part of it, but all the delays, the "injury" where Vitali says he can't fight until Feb 2014, the announcement that was supposed to come Nov 15, the delay of that announcement until Dec 15 because of the "holidays". What about Vitali vanishing during the WBC convention as soon as Stiverne showed up? K2 has the sanctioning bodies, quite the hypocrites as they say they are fighting corruption in Ukraine, yet have no problem being a party to corruption in boxing.

 

People bemoaning it not being Stiverne need to STFU.

OK, he boxed Arreola's ears off. Arreola. Relax. The second coming of Ali that achievement doth not make one.

Stiverne may or may not be a worthier challenger than Leapai, but not by much if he is. Boytsov is a better top win than Arreola.

Yes, Leapai was stopped by Kingpin - but Stiverne was stopped by Demetrice King which is a bit worse. Yeah, Leapai has a split decision loss to Colin Wilson - but that is actually less embarrassing than Stiverne allowing the shot-to-bits husk of Ray Austin to cleanly outbox him through 7-8 rounds before gassing.

Both are much lower standard than any of us want to see Klitshcko in with. Both are representative of the class that is "about the best we can make do seeing him in with for now :conf" in roughly equal measure.

 

Alex Leapai is like if a prime Mike Tyson had intercourse with David Tua in Australia. How many times has Wladimir fought Tyson? He has fought White Tyson, French Tyson, Russian Tyson and now he's facing if Mike had *** with Tua and they got a baby it would be Leapai Tyson Tyson.
