Chef is it possible the Pulev fight could happen first with Leapai injured at the moment? Apparently he wont actually be able to train until mid jan.

Ask the IBF. The WBO wants their mandatory done immediately.

Wlad doesn't control the WBO the you fcuking dolt.

When a mandatory challenger loses a fight the winner becomes the new mandatory. If Pulev somehow loses to that journeyman later this month that guy will become the IBF mandatory.

The fight would probably happen in March which means Leapai probably would start training around mid Jan at the earliest.

Leapai will make 25 percent like any other mandatory. Fighting Leapai instead of Boytsov will probably cost Wlad money since it is a less interesting fight.

I don't see how anyone can hate on Wlad for taking this fight. Leapai, no matter what you think of him, he did earn his shot.

Haters need to look at it from Leapai's point of view, the guy was shedding tears of joy in the ring after his win against Boytsov, that's not a joke, he really was!
He wants to fight Wlad, and he earned it.

Are any other fighters literally crying tears of joy at the chance to fight Wlad? NOPE. So let them fight!

And to those saying "what about Pulev?" . . . get over it! Yes, Pulev's a good fighter, but I don't give him a shot at beating Wlad, just go watch Pulev - Thompson.

While the WBO is enforcing this mandatory fight, anyone believing Wlad doesn't have a choice is deluding themselves.

You only have to look at how Vitali has repeatedly delayed his mandatory obligations with Stiverne to show how much influence a fighter has over a sanctioning body.

What would be the point of delaying this particular mandatory assuming the WBO would be as flexible with Wlad as the WBC are with Vitali which there isn't any evidence of.

Out of interest...what chance do you give Leapai of beating Wlad? 1%? 2%?

See this is the thing...boxing fans want to see competitive fights. Yeah, it's strange eh? Maybe Pulev won't be that competitive, or maybe Fury won't be that competitive, but surely they will be much more competitive than a guy who up 'til 5 minutes ago, nobody had even heard of, except folk from that part of the world.

Every champ now & then is entitled to a soft defence...but coming off the stinker that was the Povetkin fight, you'd think Wlad would be seeking to appease the fans a bit. Knocking over another stiff is not going to help matters.

And Vitali is rightfully taking some flak for essentially holding the WBC title hostage.

Wlad's played by the books. He's fought his mandatories and unified when the opportunity's presented itself. I much prefer that than having more ABC beltholders floating around. The road to the HW title goes through Wlad, and the fewer ways fighters have to weasel around that and still capture a belt, the better.

Well money alone would be a good reason. Leapai isn't a draw, hell 6 months ago he was fighting 8 rounders. As a mandatory Wlad will have to give Leapai a 25% split, against a voluntary opponent he'd make more money.

Also even before Leapai was confirmed as a mandatory there was criticism over a possible fight being made and people worst fears were confirmed. This fight will only damage Wlad reputation even further.

Most boxers get criticised for avoiding their mandatory opponents but Wlad is getting criticised for facing his, that strange fact alone says how bad this fight is.
