you cant make this **** up. :rofl On November 3, WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (34-2-1, 25 KOs) returns against former WBA champ Firat Arslan (32-5-2, 21 KOs). The bout will take place at the Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle/Westfalen, Germany. For Huck, it is the return to the venue where he dethroned previous champion Victor Emilio Ramirez. Since then Huck has successfully defended the title nine times. Should he win against Arslan, he will be granted a special super champion status by the WBO in recognition of ten successful title defenses. Of course, that especially motivates me, said Huck. Currently there are no fighters on our team who can make that claim. This content is protected . Regarding the WBO #8 Arslan, Huck stated, He is a genuine fighting machine. Hes always applying strong pressure and hes a southpaw. I have to be in top condition. :-(
It's not a crazy idea, the super thing was wba's way of relieving 10 defense or unified wba champs of some mandatory obligations. It gets tricky with both kinds of champs in the same div (John and Gamboa for a bit), but for the most part they'll promote/strip whoever they want
WBO have only one champion at a time super just gives u some rights like he will be able a mandatory shot at Wladimir or Nathan Cleverly if he makes the weight less mandatory defences bla bla bla...... There wont be a champion like in the WBA.
Hopkins and Calzaghe have already been WBO Super Champions in the past. Luckily the WBO only have one champion at the time. Although the like to have unnecessary interim-champions.
