Still Billy Bob should have gotten the chance to fight for the belt over Andrade, but I'm fine with it. I slightly favor Andrade to win, and let's hope whoever does is willing to face Golovkin.
I'm basically in agreement with everyone else. It's a good fight, but a really bizarre piece of decision making from the WBO.
Feel sorry for Billy Joe Saunders, but being honest I like the Andrade vs Korobov fight better as it would be a better fight. The best part of this all is Frank ****** must be spitting his dummy out all over the show and non stop on the blower asking the WBO why they are not in his pocket anymore... Answer... Your not big time anymore, small fry! Lol Billy Joe will go to Matchroom... Watch this space... True Story! For some reason it will not show his surname W A R R E N.
I don't think it's too weird. I actually think it is good for org's to encourage it. That's how we got Fuentes/Nietes and a couple other worthy fights with one guy moving up to challenge for the belt he has of a lower division. However, sometimes we end up getting Algieri/Pacquiao... Korobov/Andrade doesn't seem very fulfilling to "fill a vacant title," I will say that. Korobov is a low end top 10 guy and Andrade is a 154 belt holder. So yeah, not too much substance. For whatever reason, I do like the fight.
hopefully in 2015 triple G goes to russia and takes that wbo belt from korobov after he knocks out andrade. that would be epic.
Would of like to see Korobov vs Petey.....but it looks like there are other plans for kid chocolate. This is a good alternative though.
Andrade is at minimum top 4 LMW..... Did Rosado deserve back to back shots? And while Korobov has a decent MW resume......Andrade has the overall FAR better win over Martirosyan, who would be a top 10 MW if he moved up himself. I like this move by Andrade. He's gonna beat Korobov......and he'll make big fights.:thumbsup
No he would not. N'Dam, Stevens, Murray that's the bottom of the top ten and they all beat him. That said i don't have a problem with a belt holder getting a title shot if he moves up but people thinking its an automatic win for Andrade is surprising. Not sure where such high opinions came from Andrade is solid but definitely has some of that flash over substance component to his game.
If Korobov could fight 3 minutes of 12 rounds I think he would beat a lot of people. Those of us who favor Andrade I think do so because he has decent defense, and will be able to throw regular volume of fast sharp punches for 12 rounds. It just seems like unless Korobov catches him with something hard early, its going to be a long night.
Tough call this fight. Clearly in Vanes, Boo Boo's faced far sterner opposition, but with the exception of his last fight vs Uzcategui (whose actual level of talent is unestablished) Korobov very rarely loses a round. The Vanes fight was as close as hell, but like Korobov, Andrade generally pretty much sweeps up against lower level opponents. Their only common opponent, Brewer, was totally outclassed by both, unsurprisingly, though Korobov did get a KD (which he unsurprisingly failed to capitalise on - his lack of finishing instinct is one of the things which frustrates me most about Mattvey). I guess what I'm getting at is that we pretty much know what Andrades ceiling is - at JMW at least - but we really don't know how good Korobov is yet. He shows what seem to be some significant flaws, but has yet to have a fight which he hasn't won pretty easily. IMO this makes for a very interesting match-up, but I'm not particularly expecting fireworks.
