2 weeks after a fight, the only thing that is clear is nobody including you knows exactly what's going on
According to Parker's team Usyk's team hasn't engaged at all, which isn't a good sign for getting an agreement sorted before the deadline. But then again apparently its all going through Warren, so this is based of what Warren is saying, who may have ulterior motives like I said before.
Then why are you a lot even complaining? Let the champion, Usyk, get on with fighting guys that make him the most money. It isn't Parker
It does seem that way, but let's see how things play out. I'd like to think Usyk will at least fight Parker, but we shall see
I doubt Usyk fights Parker And for Parker to be allowed to choose his first few opponents as champ is perfectly normal I believe he will make it count
Can you really not see the difference between a champ not defending a title in nearly 5 years versus a newly elevated champ fighting a top 10 for a voluntary defense? Also although I'd rather see Usyk fight Parker of course, I'm happy for Usyk to chase the money fights if he drops his titles and/or meets his obligations as champ as well.
Whoa, dudes. You mean you don't understand what a MANDO means? After many months, Usyk now has a Mando - which is Parker If Parker becomes champ, he will be given a few Voluntaries before a Mando is called
I think it is a case of me holding perhaps a utopian (unrealistic) view of how I'd like to see boxing operate. I'm defending Parker's position as mandatory challenger based on this. I understand your position, I just don't necessarily agree that Parker should be given freedom to choose Joshua. Joshua will be 12 months inactive next month and coming off a bad stoppage loss. Hmm, if you want we can start digging into the WBO rules on this: SECTION 1 (b) The World Championship Committee shall have the following powers and discretion:... (3) To determine whether a challenger seeking a Mandatory Challenger designation is acceptable to the Champion's television network; and (4) To determine if there is good cause to extend the time... In the past year or so, the WBO has been aligning themselves with the WBC---that is not a good thing. Nothing would surprise me with the WBO. While I hold the strong opinion that Parker should be next up, who knows what will actually happen. But if we start going down the path of money trumps all, it seems the WBO might fall into agreement with you on that, and you might be very disappointed in the outcome
He' ducked neither at this time. He still has time to accept the Parker fight, and Kabayel is not due until after the WBO mando by agreement. This is simply misinformed.
Tbf there isn't much Itauma has done to warrant his number one position with the WBO either with wins over unranked guys. And if we looked at the WBO top 10 there isn't really much to choose from, Joshua really doesn't look that bad in comparison to those guys. For reference the best recent record will be Chisora with Washington, Washed Joyce and Wallin. And most champs will get a grace period, or allowed to take a voluntary if they promise to fight a mandatory within a certain period, say 6 months or whatever it is. So I don't mind if we get a bonus fight/voluntary defense within that period rather than the champ just sitting out and waiting for that.
Purse bid will be in a couple weeks if they can't reach an agreement, but yet to see how that will turn out. It seems most people are predicting Usyk will drop the title.
That would actually crack me up, It'd be like having de ja vu, Parker secures the WBO and then fights Joshua for the money. I was personally hoping he would fight Wilder the first time around, since he seemed more venerable to Parker's style than Joshua. I wouldn't be mad, I know a lot of people have short memories and have written Joshua off, but I personally still think he is a top 5 heavyweight, and one of the best of this era. And I reckon Parker thinks the same, plus he would like to revenge the loss.
