I saw many times in the past a champion from another division ranked immediately as the no. 1 contender in another division where he intends to fight next and having a title fight with the champion in his new division... Many times I've seen this...

Show me were WBC, IBF, WBA, with exception of the WBO who just recently changed their rankings for some reason had Manny rank at 147??? At 140 I see why he is rank, but 147 and becoming the mandatory #1 fighter is pretty amazing to me. I'll be waiting here:good

 

There was also no justification for the WBO granting Cotto a title shot when he was coming off a loss when you consider the fact that he wasn't ranked beforehand due to the fact that he held one of the other ABC titles.

 

Exactly, so I believe the limit for WW is 147. Not 145. There is no in between class.

 

The fact that he lost the belt and could now be ranked is justification for him getting a title shot. The only argument you really have is the selection of Jennings, when it should have been Clottey or Williams.

Joan Guzman was the super featherweight champ (limit: 130) when he got the fight against Nate Campbell for the lightweight (limit: 135) titles Campbell held at that time...

It is rare to have a catch weight fight with guys who are only a division apart. The only other time I witnessed this was Chavez-Pea. There are more out there, but my memory isn't that great.

Pac was never ranked officially at ww. When he fought Dlh, that was a non title affair. Ring mag does not count for anything concerning a title. That is the so-called fans title.
