    • The WBO Championships Committee has rejected the appeal
from the Ricardo Torres team requesting an immediate rematch
with current WBO champion Kendall Holt - WBO Statement:

"Ricardo Torres' representatives argued that an earlier accidental
headbutt that was not called by the referee started the chain of events
that ended in the knockout. We do not believe, based on the totality of
the circumstances, that the July 5, 2008 TKO victory in favor of Holt in
this match was controversial....and therefore the application of Ricardo
Torres that we recommend to the Executive Board that a direct return
bout be mandated is denied....We recommend that Ricardo Torres retain
      a hight ranking."

After the shameless bottle-throwing, leg-grabbing fiasco in Torres' backyard--then the headbutt 1-rd KO and this decision by WBO, it is hard not to believe in karma of some sorts...:bbb

I disagree with the WBO. Everyone but those stupid pricks wants this to happen again.

it was a huge head butt, and you would see torres get stunned big time after that. and the knock out was completed by a strong right. but torres would've gotten up if the head butt was not there. the punch was strong but the headbutt did the damage

The headbutt may not have caused the damage but it MOST CERTAINLY set up the big right as Torres was reeling back from the butt.

Gotta disagree with the WBO on this. Maybe if he's gone down straight after the headbutt it would have been a successful appeal. It's clear the headbutt is what dazed Torres but because it was the follow up punch that put him down people will make arguments like the WBO have.

it was clear as day that the accidental head butt set up the KO. the WBO owe it to the fans to sanction a 3rd fight immediately.

Terrible decision. After Torres won a controversial first fight Holt got a rematch so shouldn't Torres get a rematch. He was winning easily until knocked half unconscious by the headbutt. As usual the WBO are a joke. If he can't get a rematch Torres should try for a genuine world title shot.

Bad call by the WBO. And, I saw the video from the first fight; it was an early stoppage, but there was no bottle-throwing or leg grabbing. That's just an excuse from the Holt camp for his pathetic beard. Either way, Holt has no interest in fighting Torres again, and the WBO has no interest in forcing the issue. Time for Torres to move on.

It's obvious Holt does'nt want to fight Torres again.
