I'm watching the same fight as most fans and press row live. Bad decision and I question the judging ability of people who saw it the other way.

A few facts about scoring fights:

    1. It's very easy to be influenced by tv commentators when watching fights. Even if you're an experienced observer, it's very easy to be swayed by what the commentators are saying.

    2. It's possible to watch a fight live and have a very different perspective from those who have watched it on tv based on the angles you view the fight from (leaving commentators aside). I've watched fights live at the venue then gone home and watched a tv replay and scored rounds differently. Rounds that appeared clear-cut from both perspectives.

    3. It's also possible to have different perspectives on a fight based on the angle you view the fight from within the arena - which is why judges sit around the ring.

Not seeing "facts" 2 & 3 being taken into account by anyone discussing this fight. Lots of closed minds who are either too stupid or too stubborn to contemplate that it's perfectly reasonable for someone to hold an opinion on the outcome of the fight that differs from their own.

Good post. Seeing a fight live is a completely different experience and you only get the one angle.

I've also seen a lot of posts about the ref coming to Horn's corner and saying "Show me something or I'm going to stop it" as if that has anything to do with scoring a fight. That shouldn't figure into how anyone scores each 3-minute segment. And given that the ref did not stop the fight, I guess Horn showed something -- he finished stronger than Pac IMO.

The same ones that trot that out then claim somehow Horn bought the decision with a straight face!
So he bought a decision where the ref nearly prematurely stopped the fight? How does that work?

Only for Horn to beat the living **** out of this foolish little old man once again .

Except the next time the pain and punishment delivered by Horn will be twice as brutal fashion after having his name dragged through the mud to support Mannys freak show campaign that makes out that Paquiao didn't really get suffocated and that his scalp did not get bled dry by an avalanche of hellish combinations reigning down on his temple.

If this is what pacquiao supporters wish to see, a legend reduced to get bullied and bled dry twice in succession, then so be it.

You don't need five people to review it. You simply need one honest person, and and open video analysis of the fight. See what is landing, what isn't.

Bullied is the right word for this. Pac got monstered by the guy.

How anyone cannot see that is beyond me. Rough? - Yes. Boxing is a rough sport.

Horn won. No question. Replay the fight with the SOUND DOWN. Then you will see.

But that's totally irrelevant to what happens while scoring a fight in real time, especially a live situation with over
50k screaming fans in the background.

Screaming fans should never have a bearing on the fight. Judges know you score on a certain criteria, screaming fans isn't one of them. Also the way that fights are scored by judges is flawed already. Judges are stuck on one side of the ring with that same shitty view all fight. They often miss, or can't see fully what is landing and what isn't due to their viewing angle of the fight. Fights would be more easily scored watching it on tv monitors, which have better viewing angles of the action.

Screaming fans should never have a bearing on a fight but in reality they do. My point was that watching a fight after the fact, in a totally different setting and under totally different circumstances(some of which you just mentioned) is totally irrelevant to the original scores. Totally pointless.

I agree with this totally. Re scoring a fight on TV is like changing the rules of the fight. In All sports athletes have to adjust to the way the officials interpret the rules.

Haven't you ever heard the phrase "The squeaky wheel gets the grease?" Happens all the time in sports where high profile athletes get screwed on a call and the media screams for a rule change.

How will it prove who really won if pac appoints five of his own judges to re score the fight? Horn might aswell do the same when Pac is finished?

And Teddy's words and your biases shouldn't cloud your opinion but it does. What make you think it is any different for the judges...
