Of course. But this is bigger than an 'undisputed championship'. And it's bigger than a fantasy 'lineal championship', and makes that talk pointless. The winner will be the world boxing super series champion, and it doesn't need to be compared with anything else.

As I've stated above I doubt Lady Luck will play any part in the picking process. They'll set up everything before the July 8th event. Thats why its taking so long to announce all the names because they have to sign the contracts for the QFs and TV deals for each of the fight cards.

    Just my 2 cents

The single elimination format is clearly better than the super six. This has a set schedule, it'll be wrapped up in a year and a half, and it shouldn't have the issues with injuries the super six did.

Yeah well, you're right to be cynical about boxing, and I guess I should be even about this tourney. With this being focused in Germany and Huck being the established draw he should have to star in a big event. You are right that seeds picking opponents allows the picks to be setup behind the scenes. Hoping you're proved wrong of course, because I don't want Usyk and Briedis to unfairly get tougher QF matchups than Huck.

Can't believe this is actually coming through. As a long time fan of the CW division, this is more exciting for me than getting Ward/Stevenson and Lomachenko/Rigondeaux on Golovkin/Canelo undercard.

Sorry if I missed this but when is the first round being purposed to start? I assume they will need at least two months and we would be looking at early September best case but realistically late Fall is probably more realistic.

WBSS say the field will be 4 reigning champions (Usyk, Briedis, Gassiev, Dorticos), 2 former champions (Huck, Wlod), and 2 soon-to-be announced rising stars (presumably Kudryashov, and ????)

Does this rule out Glowacki or can he be considered a rising star? Or perhaps it is someone like Tabiti after all?

MVC-I think Tabiti stops everyone is the first round! Then fights Ward and the winner fights Badu Jack after he unifies LHW and moves up

Glad to see huck get in, he deserves it and will give it has all.

Tabiti is a real possibility. having a U.S. based fighter in would probably be a prerequisite for a Murican TV network to show the fights. He will probably get to fight at home and get to pick hte ref and judges as well.

You're probably reading too much into it. Any top contender can be called a "rising challenger".

Yes, I suppose you're right. Glowacki is only 30, not too old for a cruiser

This is the best thing in boxing right now.

Followed closely by Golovkin Vs Canelo.

Brahemer apparently going into the Super-Middleweight tournament, that series is disappointing. But roll on the cruiserweights. Cannot weight for that

Steven Cunningham did apply for the cruiserweight tournament, but didn't get in.

Honestly, if they did a second tier cruiserweight tournament it would likely be better than the SMWs:

Cunningham, Makabu, Perez, Kalenga, Mchunu, etc.
